They both fly high and fast, makes it hard to operate with aircraft who are most efficient at lower altitudes.
Oh god, you do like to live a dangerous life, dont you?
If the chaps that regularly write on “DAVE” topics see this… 😀

BAE Systems’ Laurie Hilditch said …
“The goal is to maintain a multipurpose, high-performance, cutting edge technology aircraft and we have the only fighters in the world to be interoperable with the advanced United States F-22 raptors.”http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/advanced-fighter-jets-to-have-uae-parts#ixzz2LMDMaIlu
Why is only the Typhoon interoperable with F-22?
Because that Bae chap had drunk quite a few beers?
Last time I checked Typhoon had only the Link-16
Check again, Typhoon is flying with ROVER for quite some time. (yeah i know, nothing to do with Raptors :))
(all of them yet?)
Yes, all Typhoons carry MIDS LVT
, the Gripen currently having IIRC the most advanced version yet.
Most advanced version of what? Link16? Nope, it uses the exact same MIDS LVT.
If you are indicating that TIDLS is more “advanced” than the current Link16, well that has been discussed “ad nauseun” and without classified data…

With the exception of Germany. Why are all the Typhoon Partners purchasing the F-35? Just as production ends for the latter.
Last time i´ve checked from the four original partners only two are buying DAVE. GB is buying it because they dont have anything else that can take from a carrier, Italy is buying it to substitute a fleet of ATG AMX´s and Tornados GR1.
First flight of Storm Shadow on Typhoon in 2013!
Excellent!
“Bout” time.
The AESA prototype should also get off the ground this year and the CFT “GONADS” (by Jwcook) are getting into the T3 airframes. Snail pace, but a slightly faster snail…
Lockheed Martin will deliver an Exceptional Aircraft in the case of the F-35 Lightning. Which, will be in the price range of the Typhoon/Rafale and one vastly more capable.
– Lockheed Martin will deliver an Exceptional Late Aircraft (all versions)
– Lockheed Martin will deliver an Exceptional Heavy Aircraft (all versions)
– Lockheed Martin will deliver an Exceptional slow Aircraft (the “C”)
– Lockheed Martin will deliver an Exceptional expensive Aircraft (the “B” and the “C”)
– Which, the “A” (probably) will be in the acquisition price range of the Typhoon/Rafale/Evolved Eagle, the “B” and “C” will be more expensive both to acquire and to operate.
(LM went after every mistake made by Eurofighter GMBH (with a Vengeance))
On the capability front, the Juri´s still out, let´s see the aircraft in action first.
Great idea lets substitute thousands of 8 tons Vipers and subsonic warthogs with 13+ ton stealth strike fighters…
How do you say “slash between one third and half of the sqn´s”?
When doing the math, a Nebo SVU’s accuracy would result in a 2300 foot target position error at 100 miles. And NEBO is as good as it gets with its huge antenna designed specifically to improve position error, but still isn’t good enough to guide missiles within lethal radius of a target.
!
Thats a vastly better acuracy than i was expecting.
IF a 1Л119 Nebo SVU can predict a circle of 700 metters at 160 km´s there´s nothing to stop a saturation attack with LOAL weapons into that space volume.
Interesting conversation. I note that the notion of sustained g and how it is spelled out in the T-X KPP is confusing for some here. Since I calculate this stuff for a living, I could not resist to chime in.
The 15 degrees descent slope buys you between 1.0 and 1.3 g of sustained g capability in addition to what you get in level flight, for this category of aircraft.
For example, the M-346 at 5.6g in level flight can sustain 6.6 to 6.9 g in a 15 degree descent. So there you have it.
Machdiamond, thank you, this means that both the M-346 and the Hawk respect that particular KPP, just like their representatives have been saying all along.
I hope this one ends once and for all the “only the Super Duper Supersonic Trainer respects the KPP´s” mantra…

Bmused there´s already a topic about this “fighter”. And yes, the (more or less) consensus around here is that this “fighter” was designed with the help from “Monty Python Aerospace Industries” and “Airfix”.
Oh I agree. Opting for a new engine design when F414 was already available was foolishness of the highest order. All I meant was that irrational fixations can develop as much in institutions as in random folk on the internets.
Yep
Tell that to USAF who insisted on a single engine jet as F-16 replacement. =/
Well, the entire JSF saga is a confirmation that the number of engines is secundary in the “cost to acquire/operate” dpt.
of course Rafale operation and maintainance costs will be high. its a twin engine aircraft while brazil has a long history of using single engined ones.
If they wanted cheap operation they should stick to Gripen.
Its a question of size/weight/capability, not number of engines.
Half of the Brasilian air force fast jet fleet is composed of twin engine fighter aircrafts.
UAE paid for and owns the IP for Block 60, not LM. LM needs UAE’s permission to market Block 60. That is why LM leased Block 60s from UAE for display in India.
The Vipers that were offered to Brasil and India were direct derivations of the Desert Falcon.
Congrats on your most silly post yet :diablo:.
While the post was entirely silly i doubt that it can enter the “JSR top ten silliest posts”, he´s very prolific in “out of Mars texts”…
Oh my god, the Iranians contracted John Cleese to design this, well… “thing”!
