Given that the AMRAAM is a way more effective medium to short range missile, Meteors would be carried only where the delta margin in range makes sense (AMRAAM comes also cheaper).

    It is?!

I would even bet that Typhoon will carry only 2 in most case.

At least the UK and Germany are not buying more AIM-120´s and the shell life of their stocks are not going to last.

Well you were shown AFM interviewing a program director, an official publication from Dassault Aviation, an internal document from Thales where the image come from and you just decide not believing it. That’s your problem.

But I will nevertheles give you a 4th confirmation from the French air Force :

I think that post was not for me, but thank you, that AFM article is highly interesting.

    Cheers

Same old triple rack. The common launcher will need to be F-35 compatible.

Might be, but in facebook there´s a very close photo it and it looks very, very much like the new Cobhan CWL, the ones on the Tornado are (slightly) diferent, more “vertical” on the sides (sorry about the dreadful english)

So let’s sum up. Germany is out, and Uk dubious didt hey get the notice about low life expectancy?

Nothing to do with “low life expectancy”.
Germany (and Spain) have a Typhoon assembly line… And the 25th has not exactly made things easy for a German Minister to go into the Bundestag stating that the biggest military order for the next decade will be contracted with LM (or Boeing). And while Phoon cant land on QEII, HM MOD does not need 138 JCA´s for two front line FJ Sqn´s, one OCU and a handfull of training spares in the States. Unless the T1´s Phoon´s are replaced by JCA´s in the thirties there´s no need for so many Dave´s .

Is that the new Common Weapons Launcher?
Or the (triple) rack was “pilfered” from the Tornado force?

    Cheers

They will do both like the main radar, but we are not talking of spectra size like apertures but much bigger ones for detection.

There´s no public information (nevermind confirmation) of a GaN antenna contract for the RB2, and there´s absolutely nothing about “six conformal Gan antennas”.
If i am wrong, please show the sources (i can read French, for a long time i´ve received the paper version of Air&Couscous), i will be grateful.

    Thank you

But the rafale proposed to the swiss will have GaN AESA radar and not only in the nose but on six additional conformal arrays.

I am not aware that the French MOD, Dassault or Thales confirmed the inclusion of an entirely new radar antenna for the RBE-2 for the F4 standard, and i am quite sure that the GaN insertions are EW hardware, not sensors.

Agreed Typhoon has the advantage in radar size. But it had the same advantage in 2008. Given an aperture area 1.5 times greater it surely didn’t impress in detection, identification and acquisition. What makes you think only EF got better in the meantime?

Because this time around both Rafale and Typhoon will be evaluated with an actual AESA in the nose, not just the Rafale.

The Rafale versions offered to Switzerland had the PESA radar. It’s characteristics are highlighted in the Swiss evaluation.

    No.
From the two twin seaters that Dassault sent to Emmen, one of them had a PESA, the other one was equiped with an AESA prototype. This was was openly told by Dassault to the specialized press at the time.

But it is true for eery contender. All of them evolved

Hallo, true, but in 2008 one of the two Rafale twin seaters that the Swiss evaluated had an AESA in the nose, and while SAAB sent a pair of Gripen D´s, they were proposing to deliver an “all dancing, all singing” Gripen E´s. Eurofighter was proposing to deliver in 2015… P1E…

Mark my words, if the Swiss MOD goes ahead with a public consultation/vote for the acquisition of the new fighters and wins before the RFP final selection, then the F-35A is the front runner, if the MOD does not go ahead with a public/vote on the matter, its Gripen.

Not offered by LM, not asked by the Swiss Air Force, not in the competition.
