Merry Christmas and Best Wishes to everyone for 2005.
Niall
I don’t remember my first kit but I do remember sitting round the dinner table covered in newspaper on a Saturday afternoon with my father, both of us making kits, can’t remember mine probably one of the following Spitfire/Hurricane/FW190/ME109 but he made the Airfix Buffalo & Devastator in USN colours, very striking they looked with yellow fuselage and wings.
My first tank was an Airfix Tiger and I couldn’t get the bogies right and ended up throwing it against the wall in frustration and I used to have problems getting the top wing right on WW1 fighters, they always seemed to be crooked.
Like Alex, I did this with an Airfix Lanc and I seem to remember apart from being smacked I was also banned from having any new kits for about 6 months or so as it had been a Christmas present.
I have a vague recollection that they showed you how to do this on a TV programme, maybe Blue Peter – does anyone remember?
About six months, the first five will go by quite quickly and the last one will take an age! 😀
There’s defiantly plenty of time for practicing during the winter.
I know the problem you have with the S5000, I brought a 6900 last year but after 2 shows it was relagted to taking statics and I went back to film.
The scan isn’t brilliant but it comes from ‘Regia Aeronautica Caccia & Assalto 1940-1943’ part2.
I would say that this is possibly where Dragon got their info from, it doesn’t show up particularly well on the scan but I am positive it shows Italian markings under the wings not Luftwaffe.
The text says it was used in the defence of Sicilly, and I quote “all Bf109s were mainly painted in the RLM 74/75/76 Grey scheme apart for a few exceptions displaying the RLM 78/79 Sand on Bright Blue tropical scheme”.
I hope this helps.
Superb photos, it’s great to see another rare aircraft in the air. Thanks for posting them.
Great photos, don’t sell your talents short. We all have different levels of photography skills and as I was reminded on Sunday – the more you take the better you get(in theory anyway).
Do you have anymore from Sandown you could post?
Thanks, I certainly am enjoying using it, just wished I had made the comitment earlier in the season.
Nice variety of aircraft there Andy, and you certainly don’t look like you were enjoying your trip in Southern Cross.
Lovely stuff, I wouldn’t worry about being late with them, mine are even later! What lens were you using?
Lovely shots Septic, it was bloody cold though.
I think your friends got the hang of it alright, nice shots!
Nice pics Ross, I have the same problem with keeping a moving plane in the middle of the picture.
Very nice pics Gareth.
Nice pics, the AAM glass wall shot is striking!
