Yup i cut it out on a F-18 pic C/D version.
i just wanna know what other aircraft could carry this pylon.
My vote goes to the Dutch LCF and Absalon of the RDN.
But my favorite for our navy would be the Type 621 multi-purpose corvette….she’s a beauty
This is a very interesting comparison. There should be a perfectly capable helicopter out there that can do medium lift in both peacetime and wartime scenarios. But I like the versatility of the Blackhawk. I agree it is truly a wartime helicopter. But for the most part in an AF it would do peacetime duties. I think the Blackhawk wins this comparison.
Just a question, isnt the Dauphin a medium lift helicopter also? Can it be compared to the two?
Include the F-50 too. Impressive load. Great multi-role fighter.
If Americans would veto AMRAAM for the Gripen. Can MICA be a substitute? I read somewhere that Ericcson and Matra had an agreement before that can markets MICA for the Gripen. ANy comments?
What about the RC-400– Mica combination for the A-50? This would be possible right?
Get 12 JAS 39 C/D Gripen doing dedicated A2A and 24 of the A-50 doing A2G and antishipping and secondary A2A with MICA BVR. This would be a potent force. A total of 36 aircraft all multirole. Give it tanker support and a couple of Erieye AWACS. Nice…….
Yup. But it was the old version. I think it does not have C2, datalinks and JTIDS and a combat system. The one sold to China was just the radar.
The Searchwater 2000 has C2, datalinks, improved radar qualities — range, countermeasures, and has an actual combat system (CEREBRUS) for raid assesment, over-land detection, anti-clutter etc….
Heres the a link

The atlantiques have i believe a surface search radar exclusively for maritime detection not as AEW. The Searchwater 2000 AEW with the Cerebrus combat system is the one Iam driving at. It is designed as an AEW&C with datalink and JTIDS. This radar also can do maritime surface search as secondary role but without SAR capability.

Sorry the file is too large. I have a link, its a thales brochure, on the 1st page lower left corner. Im so sorry…..
Dude sorry, have a problem attaching the pic.
Just a quick question on the Kfir C10. Does it have the 2 extra pylons in the fuselage near the air intakes? Can these pylons carry AAM’s?
Thanks..
Ei guys any answers?
Ei Steve,
Sorry for my naïve impressions. Thanks again for the info…
But 1 more question for the Arabel. Have you heard of the new KDX II AAW frigates of the ROK Navy? Its equipped with MW-08 as its 3D radar (target indicator) & 2 STIR illuminators. Given that you said ARABEL can do illumination duties for the ESSM and possibly SM2 with software modifications will it be a good match or upgrade? And yes the Thales website categorizes ARABEL as a fire control radar why did you say that it is s reliant on shipboard illuminators when it can do exactly that?(missile uplink and illumination)
I agree that the ARABEL is good for local area defense because of its horizon- range-only detection capability. But if it paired with a modern long range 3D radar set like SMART-L will it be a good match. Most of the missiles even the SM2 has about 70-80 kms range (which is also the effective instrumented range of the ARABEL), with a good cue from a dedicated air/surface search like SMART-L Arabel can probably steer these missiles accurately even up to ten simultaneous engagements.
Sorry you might find it insisting, but I’ll be satisfied with any reply from you…I know you know well enough to quell my curiosity…
Thanks chief……
