    Griffith 911 – Picture report

Picture # 25 on HMS Argonaut

Three A4 B Skyhauk code name “Leo ” al with 1000 pounds ordinary

    # c-215 First Tenent Fillipini
    # C-224 Tenent Vottero
    # C-240 First Tenent Autero

Taking of from Rio Gallegos Air Base at 12:30 noon

Another squadron code name “Orion ” with 3 planes also took of , Orion one presented problems , pull back , Orion 2 and Orion 3 added to Squadron Leo –

At that moment the squadron has then 5 planes –

Without air resupply fly straight to San Carlos , dropp low close to water and see a ship , it was HMS Argonaut who tried to take some cover behind land –

The 5 planes on tactical escalate to the left atack with bombs and cannons , in minimal intervals –

Official Reports indicate two bombs hit , none of which explode –

You see now that behind each picture there is a story of men that have been fighting to survive either during the atack or during the defense – A picture represents much more than that , is part of a story that we will not change because it has happen 25 years ago , we can only bring it back and try to replay those moments , with all respect and Honor for the ones involved in the accion –

    Griffith 911 ref: Lear Jets

Ken on June 7 two Lear Jets code name Nardo over San Carlos Bay heading 090 were instructed to simulate atack on a PAC of Sea Harriers , they were guided by Westinghouse Radar from Falklands ( yhe one belonging to Air Force , they do so , suddenly co=pilot of palne number 2 sees two flashes from a ship , then those flashes become misil , one missil hits the plane, it falls on west Island – All this happens June 07 at about 09:10 Am –

Your Ship in that area ? Your Shots ?

We are very sad about that event , God will keep those Heroes by his side –

Our records show that on the same day Lear Jet was shot down , we are looking into reports to find out were it happen and if it is related to your ship –

Each Photo represent an event that is now part of our History ( Great Britain and Argentina ) as we go one by one .we will be able to bring toghether information regarding the event – We will talk about the event and not about the person because of due repect for all who have given theire lives for theire Countries –

    Thank you Ken

To Ken , Creaking Door, Delta Whisky-

Why is it that you had doubts about so many questions that i have been asking – This is why

There is a particular war accion that took place during Falklands campaign of which you do not have doubts , but on our side we do , mainly because an official report says so –
For respect to all involved I will not mention which one neither names –

There is a theory developed by someone that I know and that shows a different perspective of this particular accion , this theory does not chalenge an official report – And here it is :

Official report says planes heading 090 , turn to 340 engage a large target , turn 310 launch misill, two planes on the left shot down , two remmaining keep going fly over main target drop bombs , evasive action and head back 270 –

Theory says planes heading 090 turn north ( 340 ) 20 NM too soon and puts them on the left side of the ring – Did fly and drop bombs on target ( but was not the target you thought due to be covered with smoke from chaff and Sea Dart –

This is why i,ve been trying to see which ship , were and distances on the left side of the ring – That is why i,ve asked when you saw the planes , at what distance , which heading each ship – Doing math and drawing would help us better understand this theory –

    Not at all –

Fought in that conflict as First Tenenet on the GADA 601 ( TRiple AAA ) –
I was the Commander of the Command Co of that Unit , which had the responsability for :

    -Communications of the Unit
    Air Post Command
And the Long Range Radar (Cardion ANTPS-44)

Since I was the only one in the unit trained to operate the Radar , I become the lonely operator of that radar- ( day and night )
Remained prisioner for another 30 days after the conflict end , Found out about Cadburrey chocolats back then –

Married , 4 kids , two grand kids , two dogs ( Big Saint Bernards ) small cat –
    No no birds –

    Like Country music

    Atlanta – Georgia – USA
Equipment Manager on a large construcction Co .

No sports , they would kill my habit of a good Marlboro cigarette with a cup of coffee –

Knew a lot about Air Defense back when the conflict , retired as Captain on 1985 , why ? because conflict teach you a lot of things , its very wise to take advance of what you have learn and applie it in the training of your troops –
But what happens when all you have learned is just left aside , you may get frustrated and look for something else –

Why I am so interested in the conflict , because I’ve been part of it as You –

I’ve learned that what I’ve seen with my own eyes during a war acction , may not bee the total truth of what realy happen – Example and I think it was Creaking Door who told me about it :

On the first day y had on the screen 5 or 6 beeps at 090 degrees and at about 70 NM coming in – they atack , And it comes to be that there was only one Vulcan and a Sea Harrier on that atack – And I learned that 25 years after the war –

I’ve always said we can study each war acction , and try to find what happen how did it developed keeping always the Respect and Honor of those that from both sides have given theire lives for the Country –

I may think that I know what happen in a particular moment during the conflict , but its going to be only half of the truth , the other half lies on the other side – Even official reports may have errors , because they may have been written as soon as the conflict ended and not have still al the neccesary info needed to be accurate –

As well as there is this forum were i learn a lot , there are other forums were Argies bring theire points of view , some are deeply wrong , others are accurate – I’m not in politics , I’m in search of war events as accurate as posible because of the respect that i have for those who didn’t make it back from both sides –
When i find something interesting , and it could be totaly different as what Argies think has happened , I bring it to theire board and discuse about it –

There are instances were one may have an official report of events plus the testimony of two surviving Pilots of a particular action and still you only have half of the event – because what i think i saw is not what was there -…………………keep with you this three last lines that i have written and along the days you will realize of what i am talking
about –with no need of mentioning the event neither names –

My complete name is Enrique Rey del Castillo , and that is why I sign in as REYDELCASTILLO –
I’ll send you through private mail my home phone number and cell phone number – Call me , remember that there is a difference in time between you and me –

Don’t post my phone number on the forum , a debt collector may get it , but I will be expecting your call –

So to your question :……….?…. Not at all –

    Good Morning

Thank you for this wounderfull Photo of HMS Invincible –
Let me ask you a few questions :

1- Can you share with us other photos from HMS Invincible and your ship HMS Cardiff –

2-Once posted at this your forum , how can I share them / show them to my men in the other forum ?

3-Known to us positions of ships with in the fleet that day – Please review and correct –

Center on Invincible and at 5 o’clock Advenger , at 8 o’clock Exceter and at aprox 10 NM from Invincible – At 11 o’clock Cardiff –

4-Since Advenger was on the oposit side of the atack how was it able to see it ?

    Creaking Door Ref # 206

Good Morning Sir , Thanks for the Info – Based on your info its now clear how things happen –

I’ve ask Griffith 911 who was on the HMS Cardiff at the time of the conflict which was his relative position regarding the HMS Invincible on may 30 –

Yes this question is aimed to try and figure out what happen that day when two Supper Etendards and four A4 launch an atack on the fleet – We all have heard so many different accounts ( Official and non Official) that on our side has keept us confused –

If we would know how the escorts were located , we would figure out how the atack developed , through which ships should the two A 4 would have flown bye (if they did so ? ) and were did that last exorcet went –

Some sources say that this last atack on the fleet may have flown just west of the outer ring of the main task force – Other say that it penetrated the ring but way west of the HMS Invincible ( How far away west ) and that they atack with no result another ship other than the Carrier – Other say they reached and flew over HMS Invinsible (I did’nt say so ), if that would have been the case , my question is over which ships should they have flown before reaching the main target ?

How was that Ring of protection arround the carriers form / which ships / which location ?

Thank you Sir , Regards Enrique

    Griffiths 911 Ref : C-130

    Ken

Thanks for your words , Our Respects and Salute to You and all Members of the Arm Forces of Her Magesty The Queen –

This is what we know about the C-130 – And I’ve always said what I or we know is only half of the truth – You may have the other half –

The C-130 ( code name Tiza ) was on a reconociment flight , in comunicacion with CIC Falklands ( Air Post Command) -Most probably in comunication through the Westinghouse Radar ( Air Force Radar ) which saw the Sea Harriers -( your photo shows some of the soldiers from that radar )-
Hit by Sidewinder on an engine , keeps flying low level – Shoot in the cabin by cannons from Sea Harrier until hits watter –

Ken , this is what was told , and may not be what has happen since there were no survivors of the C-130 –

    Our question would be :

Cannons were used to finaly shoot it down , from the rear through the tail gate ? or from the front head on towrds the C-130 ?

    Regards Enrique Rey Del Castillo
