What a load of utter rubbish.

I see no way Street View will help the criminal element at all. The pictures are a good 6 to 9 months out of date and I’ve noticed on 3 streets so far that the images used are not taken on the same day either.

This is the typical “scared of something new” hysteria that grips the general public. Just like when the Railways first came about…. doctors told us going over 30mph would cause us to have heart attacks!

Just hang on a minute. I support it and said so in my post. But I also know it will be abused, there is no use hiding from it. A crim will case a place 4 or 5 times before robbing (Unlkess it’s a pikey chav no-mark after drug money then they will just chance it on a single pass). The first casing can be specked out on the Street view, it avoids a walk-past, which can cause suspicion.

No it never mattered except in the early days where a multi country live broacast and link up was space age technology.
Now Wogan and his correct opinions on the stereotypical habits of the cheating nations has gone and that Irish non-comic Norton is in place, it matters even less.

It is a tool for people to abuse. It will be abused, it already has been.
I can’t believe you support the opposite view that crims will not use it because the information may be old.

The WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends) are now being trotted out as an assist to the campaigning.
This could be a good thing. You can judge a man by the type of woman he picks. I say man, as there is no woman in the running for PM, ever again.
The gay ones will just have to lie!

    True.

On board a Transworld 707 in the 70’s….
Stunning hostess asks me “Would you like some TWA coffee?”
“No, but I’d like some of your TWA Tea”. She was American, she didn’t get it. The fellow brits on board did!

    How?

Anybody in the world can travel to your home and walk past. Only those with an internet connection can see Google Maps.

And what if they do see your house and car as they were sometime a couple of years ago? I am at a loss to understand why this would matter.

You are not surely suggesting that people sit down with Google maps and use the very slow progression of Street View to search for a specific car in distant towns / villages and then drive to that house to see if, by any chance, the owner still happens to have it?
    Moggy

The images of my home were taken at the back end of last summer, not 3 years ago as per suggested in this thread. I began an alteration to the Front Porch in Early September, and the picture on GE SV was taken about 4 days into the build.
I doubt people scan the street view looking for specific cars or any other product.
I am certain that people use Google Earth and now S.View to plan burglary, and more important (To them) a good getaway over low fences etc.
Hopefully the use will overcome the abuse, like anything else the few “May” spoil it for the many.

This seems a good thread to join in.

WP840. Please define punishment? Jail is confinement only. Prisoners just get large muscles and expert level on Xbox and Wii whilst being kept by the taxpayers.
The criminals, age 10. Too young to be killed by the state, but yes there were/are plenty of people that would string em up at that age, outside the Court and since. And indeed in Liverpool, as has been posted above. They should never have been even considered for any sort of parole, ever. As the thread has concluded, they are very twisted individuals which are not safe in public.
Where is the Mosquito analogy supposed to go in terms of feeling the affect? We give to charity as a benefit of being in a 1st world nation helping the 3rd world. When part of our world is ripped up like the Jamie case, it affects us far more than another malaria outbreak in a far off land. As for being affected directly, then surely only the family and friends of Bulgers are directly affected. Oh, and I presume the parents of the criminals were disappointed at their offspring being as sick as Vlad the Impaler. The Video still of Jamie in the Bootle shopping centre is one of the most horrific images of last century (Knowing what happened next of course). In terms of shock value it’s up there with the Hindly/Brady pictures, 9-11 and the bodies in the concentration camps. The full details of Jamies death are too gory and horrific for an open age forum, although enough of them were typed earlier.
