It’s a Pull system John. The dimmer the nation gets, the more attrocious the reporting will get. The papers are feeding a demand.
It will take a generation to change that demand, maybe more.
A nation which breeds people that willfully damage a War memorial , has lost it. A barometer of society.

It’s not a big thing over here in Europe.
But, it is changing…..the kids are seeing more and more Yank TV so it comes in like a cancer.

I used to get drunk and go to Alderley Edge with my Witch of a GF at the time. She flew me there.

Despite a lot of objection at the time (From drivers), we owe the Law changing for Seat belts to be fitted in all new cars, to Jimmy. Without hm sponsoring the campaign it would have been years away.

I always enjoyed his Radio, especially his insistance on perfect descriptions (Open bracket closed bracket) of the Record Title in Pop quiz.

Jim’ll fix it was very enjoyable. Even though it was actually a fix! Only nice children from Stock got the best fixes. No scally toerag from Toxteth got to fly in a Tonka or with the Reds.
all the same, a much liked fella who did far more good than harm.

Why not have the Lords elect the new King/Queen every time? Following ancient Germanic custom …

Why have ze Haus of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha as a monopolistic purveyor of Kings and Queens to the throne? And how does that go together with EU competition laws and regulations?? :diablo:

    The Lords cannot be trusted!!
I don’t see a problem with the existing system. So, why change?

    This is an excellent point.
I would argue that the thinking distance is now greater.
As a 7 series driver, I have the confidence I can stop in an unfeasible distance. This does, psychologically, allow risk to enter the frame. When I had a naff old Ford, I kept a rule-o-thumb (Actually geekily calculated) that the car in front at 70mph should not be as wide as my middle fingertip with arm outstretched. (Do yout owm trig.!!). With the correct gap like this, other drivers fill it, because it is (By modern standards) an enormous gap.
Now, in teh 7, I feel I could stop on a sixpence…so I don’t actually mind a smaller gap. WRONG ATTITUDE!! But, the experience of the car sort of forces me into this psychological minefield.

Well, be carefull, the civilised part of your history and culture is Pommish.

The Haka is just an uncivilised and uneducated method of Gauntlet throwing. When the spoken word was established, stuff like the Haka was laughed at….be it right or wrong.
Keep the Haka by all all means please, but…seeing it is a challenge, please don’t be offeded if other nations rise to it with a very large middle finger. You may be World champs at Rugby, but we all saw the match and we all saw the French were better. As an Englishman, it cuts my throat to admit this.
We were just rubbish, that’s not the issue. And, seeing as the Mauri are now a minority race in both real life AND the Rugby team, why don’t you just sing along to the NZ national anthem like any other normal country would?
