Go on then, PeeDee, explain how we get a solar sail to deflect an incoming…
Easy Peazy!
It folds away like a Flash from a 1950’s camera.
Put it on the Baggage pylon of a suitable handy rocket. Fueled up with OEM unleaded as Morrisons own won’t have the ooomph.
Get to Space.
Find it.
Launch large, cable laden missiles onto the surface, with surface penetrating Anchor Bolts. Military spec, not B&Q.
Attach sail.
Get home for a cuppa.
Didn’t you EVER see Thunderbirds!

Some photo’s won’t load at all and some throw you into a 404 page not found error.
(A) Space is not a vacuum. It’s actually impossible to create a perfect vacuum.
(B) The Solar wind is actually what is captured and harnessed by a Solar Sail. And the Solar wind is particle movement.
(C) To deflect an incoming away from Earth would take surprisingly little force, so long as you can get it early enough. Moving it just a few hundredths of a Degree will mean it will miss Earth by thousands of miles.
(D) Bet we are all out tonight, looking skywards!

Not quite true. Granted they don’t last long but I’ve seen them at dawn when it’s been very light indeed. You certainly don’t need to be out in the sticks to see them.
Yes indeed, I didn’t mean all SStars. The ones that leave any trail of size are apple sized. I spose a diamond the size of sand could leave a trail……speaking of which, the ones that fall to ground are a good source of perfect Diamonds. There are teams which search the Salt flats for such. The items they find are Grape sized or Plum. They must have been as big as a house upon entry!
I’m outside with the Camera at every Meteor shower. Unfortunately, with the camera, I haven’t seen the massive showers which were visible in the 80’s when I saw the Leonids burst of about 2,000 an hour between 2 and 3am.
Apparently, were are in a different part of our general orbit and the massive showers won’t be back for a couple more decades yet I think.

When you Hoover, do you use a Dyson to do the vacuum?

As already stated, grains of Sand sized….but that’s the smallest. They don’t produce a Shooting Star, maybe a tiny flick of light, but you’d need to live way in the sticks for the sky to be dark enough.
The S. Stars we see, that take up, say a 1/4 of the arc of sky…are about the size of an Apple up to the size of a House. They burn different colours if you are lucky, and speed of Burn obviously depends on the constituant materials.
I have been fortunate enough to see a “Fireball”.

2nd best is 100% variable to each and every person. I have my preferences and you have yours. There are some preferences that I will not compromise on, where there is a choice.
If I’m on a desert island and the only female around looks like John Prescot, then needs must!
But I’m not, and I have plenty of choice. Had, I’m doing life now.

I’m not “Writing them off”. That’s a total misrepresentation.
What on Earth is wrong with having a dislike to somebody elses culture? It’s theirs, they can have it, but I don’t want it in my life 24/7/365 just because the other part of that person is a nice personality.
What is wrong with anybody having the right to choose what they like or dislike, in people or whatever. So no, I certainly would not make a move to a girl that I did not find attractive, because no matter what she is like…the lack of lustful attraction will kill it off in the end. Unless of course ones proclavity is based on seeking the “Challenged”.
When girls I don’t fancy have hit on me, I’ve not been rude (They may have a mate who’s a looker!) but I’ve never allowed it to develop more than idle chat, it can lead into all sorts or Rabbit warrens.
As for the uber Germans, I totally agree with what you say. But you can sort of guarantee certain traits in Germans. they don’t accept rubbish beer for a start. They make superb cars. They are indeed precise, to a lesser or greater extent. Obviously, the latter trait can be found everywhere.
Shallow? No, where I can choose, I don’t take 2nd best for fear there won’t be another chance……there always will be.
I once went to a Christian Rock festival, (And enjoyed despite some very twisted evangelical ramblings on the stage). I only went because there was a strong rumour that Yngwie Malmsteen (Whom I’m sure you’ll know as a fellow twanger) was making an unanounced appearance. He didn’t! Why he should have I dunno, I’m not aware he was a follower.
