What on Earth is shallow about picking the person that is right for you?

PeeDee – yes I would think that the answer to your last question is “yes”. Isn’t it called the “domino effect”. If his oil exports were stopped and Saudi and the rest upped their capacity to cover the shortfall it would bring about a swift end and also stabilise the oil price.

Quadbike – yes he was a stabilising force but so is any dictator ruling by force, simply because instability is crushed.

For 22 years he has “Saved” a lot of money. He could only buy Soviet militaria and couldn’t sell his oil to the West.
The deal I was involved in was worth a total of (Spread over 30 years) 86 Billion pounds. UK trade too as the ITAR rules prevented most US kit being used. I dunno what has happened to that deal now. Only tranche 1 was signed up, and that was for nearly £100M.

As for stabilising the oil price……..why should they. It’s hiked up and we punters keep paying!

And then there’s the bacteria that live in boiling diluted sulphuric acid in volcanic thermal pools….

And the entire ecosystem that thrives around ‘black smokers’ on the deep ocean floor in pitch darkness, high temperatures and water pressure that would crush a Challenger MBT…..

Not to mention the algae that live inside rocks and glaciers.

    All “earth born things”.

    We are all star stuff.

” If the MODS want me to edit it …. ” ?

    Cheers mate,you’re all heart.

Sorry flower, but I actually find your faith in an imaginary friend objectionable.
But I don’t want you to stop putting those points across and I won’t expect you to delete stuff that is in oposition to my views.

    Not funny.
    I mean it,I really don’t like it.
Personal insults get stepped on by the moderators but you get away with that phrase without a peep out of anyone.
    Nice.

    No, you are peeping!
It’s actually stolen from a Film. But that’s no excuse I know.
If the mods want me to edit it, I will. I dunno the threshold of complaints before an action is taken. Hope it isn’t like the Ross / Brand affair, 4 genuine and 20,00 extras that thought it would be funny to have them sacked.

I’ve seen some rants here in the last 6 years and I’ve had the odd one (or maybe a few hundred) myself but I gotta say it, regardless of whether I agree or not that’s impressive, PeeDee! 😀

Rants are in capitals. There aint none, that aint no rant.

    Bumble…..Allah can’t Tapdance 😉

I was involved with Military sales to Libya. Didn’t meet the Col. but met #1 son and lots of Chiefs of Staff.

Also met a lot of Libyan people, they were glad that the Col. had turned the corner and renounced WMD and terrorism. They all had jobs and nobody moaned about being skint or underpaid. They were looking forward to a new Libya as they could now buy from the West and indeed sell oil to the West. With Tourism back on the agenda (Some of the very best beaches are on that stretch) they were enjoying the rebuild of the nation and people were not complaining about the Col.
So, I dunno what went wrong.
Is it a case of “Next-doors had a go and succeeded, so we will?

    I believe.
I’m not sure I believe they’ve been here yet, but it is an astronomical impossibility that there isn’t another planet at “The correct” distance from it’s home star that can spawn life.
However, there is no reason at all that the Tardigrades need the range of survival temperatures they can withstand….if they were from this planet. They can withstand to be almost boiled in water or be taken to absolute zero. (-273C or 0 kelvin). They can be dried out for years but will come alive when wet.
Earth born things don’t need that. OK, maybe the last one in deep desert.
