Dozens and dozens! I listen to music for the reasons stated above and have memories since my first record purchase in 1963 (From me to you…Beatles).
Presently, the track I keep going for on Mp3 is “We don’t celebrate Sundays” by Hardcore Supersrtar. Simply because it’s how Rock should be.
It was equally cringeworthy watching Jasper Carrot the other night too. Pathetic.

Many actors make an excellent job of playing servicemen despite never having served – why is that an issue?
Acting is exactly that , pretending to be someone you aren’t and many modern actors are very good at it, indeed better than they were in 1950s.
e.g. Colin Firth gave an Oscar winning performance as a King despite never having been (as far as I know) a reigning monarch. Bruno Ganz made an excellent job of playing Hitler although I’m pretty sure Herr Ganz was never a brutal dictator (Godwin’s Law I know….)In fact Colin Firth might make an excellent Guy Gibson…
Imagine a remake with modern techniques, dynamic acting, more than two camera viewpoints and full colour. I can’t wait 🙂
What I mean, is that there is a certain atmosphere in the movies that were made during or near the events. This atmosphere cannot be recreated by acting alone….no matter who it is.

Very very few actors turn down any offers of work,as regards films many interviews and bios disclose that those taking part often have no idea if it will be a hit, miss or turkey. If it is a turkey then i hope they have the good humour of Sandra Bullock who turned up in person to accept a worst film of the year award in the USA.
David J must have had some sort of “Bullet at head” contract. He read the script, and if he could have walked…he would.

I was in UK at Christmas and we saw the 1st one. We were looking forward to it, after all, it’s BBC Comedy and David Jason! What could be wrong……well, everything.
I was embarrassed for him and the other cast. It was not funny, at all. Not even my 9 year old lad found it funny. It was a sad reflection on the BBC which seems to rely on the dim, brainless galoots which dote on Eastenders…maybe it’s funny to them. Despite viewing figures too low to measure, I believe the rest of the Bodyguard series is being shown too?
We went over to “Gold” ch and watched some proper comedy.

I really hope they do not remake the film.
It’s a classic as it is, leave it be.
a) Todays character actors, aren’t.
b) SFX instead of real Lancs. Original….the SFX in the water plumes were quite good for the day!
c) Some money will be US, so a yank or two will have to design/aim/drop the bombs.
d) The acting will be hollow because they didn’t actually live through the War, or serve in the Forces.

There’s some very kind feedback there guys, thanks very much. 😎
To answer your questions, all shots up to the Weston Heli days were taken using a Canon 40D, with my new 7D used from Dawlish through to the end of the season. I’m pretty sure all shots were taken using a Canon 100-400L lens, although I have a Canon 24-70 F2.8 in the bag for static shots where the 100-400 is too much. Regarding exposure settings, it’s difficult to say as it tends to vary a lot depending on the weather and lighting conditions at the time, as well as the shutter speed and aperture being used. Typically, I’ll set the EV at +2/3 as a starting point, and adjust accordingly from there to suit the conditions, keeping the ISO at 200 for as long as I can get away with.
HTH, and thanks again,
Shaun
Very interesting. My exposure EV is minus 1/3…based on the fact that you can recover and under exposure on the PC or dark-room but a burnt out section is gone forever. Shooting at +2/3rds on a sunny day would worry me for this reason, but I will try it. I suspected it was an L series lens.
God was on my side in the first few days of the Year.
I was decorating the upstairs North Wing Bog. It was bare plaster walls and “The boss” wanted it walloping with Silk White emulsion. So, knowing it would take 3 coats, the first coat was some old Matt White, and a large glug of PVA. I added 15% water to it too.
Well, it was too much water, the solution did not give me a good enough base to work on and I wasn’t convinced the PVA was sealing the plaster.
The Bible told me to “Repaint, repaint, and thin no more!”
I sanded it down as best I could and did the same but without the water. All fine. (Took 4 coats total to get blindingly white and teh Boss was happy and I added Brownie points in the integrity bank)

Slight thread diversion……In the 90’s, I was sure I saw a Jet Fighter…poss. F16 at an airshow do an inverted loop…i.e start at the top and negative G all the way round.
Was I imagining it? (Quite possible, I was walking towards my car at the time and it was one of the closing items, I wasn’t paying too much attention).
My doubt is the pilot ability to sustain neg. G (Even with a suit) for long enough to do this at what would seem (Relatively)
a low altitude.
