Anybody got any pics of her in flight? or any vulcan for that matter
Cheers
Lets face it everybody has got there favourite aircraft and if they could get £2.7m to restore one to flying condition they would jump at the chance.Xh558 has got the money because some people had the vision of getting her in the air again while all the doom and gloom merchants said it couldnt be done. What about the hurricane from the bbmf this has just been restored after crashing i dont see many people complaining about public money being used to restore it when there are other examples flying.
Nice to see that my first post has stirred up a hornets nest!
I can only think that maybe i am blessed that i live in lincoln where on a regular basis i get displays from the red arrows, lancaster, dakota, spitfire, hurricane and untill 13 years ago the vulcan. I was at waddington when she took off for the last time and waited for her to return for one last time as she did a flypast waving good bye to her home in between we had a touch and go from PA474 that memory wil stay with me for a very long time but not as much as when she takes off again to perform her display again.
I think it just proves what a great aircraft she is with all this bickering i guese she is a bit like marmite you either love her or hate her!
Has anybody else seen the video of a vulcan doing a barrel roll? not bat for a heavy bomber!!
well kev you are a very depressing person
As I’ve said previously, and God forbid it should ever happen, but what if it went down performing a routine or in transit? It would be the end of airshows.
“What if” could be applied to anything life, would be dull if nobody took risks (not that it will be a risk) .
I think your glass is well and truly empty!
A total of almost £4 million was needed to purchase the bomber which was a symbol of Britain’s aviation power during the Cold War.
As reported in the Echo, a large part of the money came from a £2.7m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
But donations from almost 18,000 people around the world have helped raise the rest of the cash.
Members of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust were told by the plane’s owners, C. Walton Ltd, that they needed to buy the plane to restore it
They are about to sign the contracts to take over the bomber which is expected to be up in the air by the end of next year.
Looks like they have raised the money to me but i am sure the fund raising will continue.
I would sooner think the glass is half full not half empty like some people.
seems so this is from the vulcan to the sky website
