One thing I do find somewhat amusing amongst all of this is the apparent confusion between “interest in” and “involvement in”. While we all, by virtue of being members of this forum may have a passing interest in what the future holds for the aeroplanes which make up this wonderful collection, I would state with a fair degree of certainty that it has sweet Fanny-Addams to do with any of us, except those of this forum who are actually involved in the day to day running of TFC.
I find David Burke’s comment above, post number 39, rather amusing. I’m sure some people on this forum have a passing interest in mortgages or financial planning. Would it be appropriate to discuss the ins-and outs of David’s mortgage or family finances on an internet forum? No, of course not. So why do people feel they have a natural right to be told the plans of a private company of which they are neither an employee or shareholder?
Just my thoughts, and I’m more than happy to get torn to pieces by the lions for holding these opinions. I for one, whatever happens, am simply grateful for what they have brought to the UK and shared with us by way of airshows. The business behind the aeroplanes is nothing to do with me and I can accept that without issue.
Hi Alan, thanks for the note. I am aware of Beech Restoration’s involvement with the type.
Hi BM, message on its way.
While going on about Harvard parts, if anyone has or knows of any available Harvard or T-6 parts, particularly here in the UK, I’d be really interested to hear.
Thanks
Hi, the tyres are 27″ by 9.75. We need both tyres and tubes, but whatever you have would be really useful.
Thanks
Hi, following on from above, has anyone tracked down EZ259? I’d be interested to hear of it’s current status.
Thanks
Does anyone have any photos of Vampire FB.9 WL505 when she was at Swansea with the ATC squadron back in the 60s/70s?
Thanks
I understand that David Tallichet operated a B-29 for a very short period, in addition to those discussed above. Now at March AFB I believe.
Hi Mike, we’re now OK for oxygen bottles thanks. We do need the pneumatic air bottles, however, and an EVA valve (I think).
A T.7 with the cockpit section removed is basically a Mk.4 airframe when it comes to the important bits. Where to find a Mk.4 cockpit though? That is the question.
Thanks Bruce, I’ll drop you an e-mail regarding popping over your way sometime soon.
I know the fuel gauge you mean – where does this go on a late single seater? Main panel or a sub-panel? I had assumed they were T.11 and Swiss single seater only.
Many thanks.
Mention was made of FB.5 VZ304. What’s the background to that aeroplane? I’ve seen photos of her taken at Duxford in the early days – how come she ended up being scrapped?
Regarding WL505, I know a little of the aircraft. She is stored under cover, not in Norfolk, but Lincolnshire by a small group of new owners who are keen to see her back in one piece. They are collecting all the various bits back together and are making good albeit slow progress. More details when I know more.
Vampire
Hi Alan, any single seat Vampire or Venom covers?
Thanks
Import VAT
“The only thing you might wish to be aware of is the possibility that VAT could be charged on import. It is very unlikely, but my recent comms with HMR&C revealed that this could be charged except in the case of British built aircraft which are VAT exempt under the “goods returning to the country of origin” rule.”
Even if VAT is charged (which as Andy rightly said shouldn’t be the case on British manufactured parts returning home), it should, being a vintage aeroplane, only be levied at a rate of 5% rather than 20%. Tariff code 9705000090 (I think, from memory) is the code we import items under and these clear through free from duty, with only 5% VAT charged.

Yes, that’s it Tony.
