The majority of P-51D aerials (85%) are SILVER, 10% BLACK (without invasion strips) 5% could be dark brown, olive or faded black, it doesn’t get any more accurate than that.
But when they are drawn of the shelf in the stores they are just plane wood. That’s part of my point. The black and silver ones have a metal…’sleeve’ over them and that is what’s painted (for the black ones anyways i guess silver would be bare metal during the war). So if ya wanna be picky…hehehe… they are all still wood *big cheeky grin* But thanks for that, it’s an interesting fact.

Come on Snapper, get it together :p
i was about to say the same thing!! hehe
we could…. or we could just mock the yanks and pretend we want to sell them one… coz we know the reason they would only let it land at NY and no where is else is coz we wouldn’t give them any!! hehehe
what BA should have done was kept them flying.
It does doens’t it?
Well i asume you mean it’s him, can’t be me i was sitting in a P-51 tonight. (i’ve had a couple to drink, so forgive spellings)
I guess the only thing is in the UK, the CAA only let you have 100% authentic schemes, otherwise you have to put the reg down the side of it.
Wooden aerials are standard fit, my dad sold a spare one to PT and it comes wooden. The painted ones have a metal ‘sleeve’ over them that is painted.
