EDIT: Sorry i.e. I belive I missread your post ther!
My hjumble appologies to you if I did! 🙂

I couldn;t make sense of your first post but… no problem no harm done.

yes I was following up on your intriguing idea that pak may turn to french for some supplies, M88 engine comes in my mind. If rafale doesn’t win MMRCA that is. heck even a M53 would do. provided CAC is willing to re-design the aft fueslage.

as to status of Chinese Engines in this class. yes an engine is in work, ws-13. Taishan, it is a Klimov with some local modifications.

taxi trials began early last year.

    like so:

    …[/url]

does the system handle all the way down to touch down, hands off?

like a CATIIIC system with no decision height and no min visuals?

I guess flare is not required so that makes things simpler a bit.

Russia prolly wont play ball with Pak. but the French might. So if they dont want to rely solely on Chinese gear they should try approach them rather than the americans.

    hummm….

    M88 for JF-17/FC-1? 😉

    Sounds good to me.

Um kay, not really sure about relevance to my post tho :-/

I just noticed the flaps at slats are down on the lockheed JAST model.

Also, in terms of planform alignment would an angle to the canards effect anything? Because the radar waves should still be scattered in a controlled fashion in the same direction as the wings? Acting in the same way the F-22’s V tails leading edge is aligned and therefore scatters as the main wing’s leading edge.

Once those Leading edge slats droop your nice planeform alignment is gone, same goes for those Flaperons.

May be, just may be in some of these stealth planes there is a “Stealth Mode” in the FCS.

there is more than one way to balance out the pitching moment you know… and when RCS is your biggest requirement you are not likely to be 1) at low speed and 2) need large surface deflections…isn’t it?

    I shouldn;t say anything more, do I…

do you have proof of a Li Tian of 601 and his face? how do I know you are not making up names? I looked it up and the only thing google links back to is to your own comments made here. Its starting to sound as fishy as the supposed claim that Sukhoi allowed SAC to build indigenous J-11s on its own, but unable to produce proof.

    Uh….

May be because the caption of that original photo reads:

“Academy Member Li Tian works in the windtunnel with colleages? “

    another clue,
he is a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

That’s my speculation also. I wonder if PAF is playing a role in this. There was a rumor for that but Eagle Hanan clarified that the PAF has denied any involvement in 5th gen development in China.

It is only in the proposal stage. the real competition hasn’t started.
some people in CAC is real peeved about losing the carrier fighter proposal to
SAC’s J-15. they don;t want to lose another one.

J-10X (let’s just call that for the lack of a better designation) is substantially different beast than J-10A/B. at least that’s what i heard.

as far as PAF goes, their personnels wouldn’t get a formal briefing at this point but I would imagine they would hang around CAC enough to know what’s CAC has in mind.

BTW, I’m sure I read somewhere that the MiG-29K can take off 90% of the time under tropical conditions when the carrier speed is just 10 knots.

what happens the other 10% of the time? drop into the ocean? 😀

sorry had to take make that comment.

extremely interesting thread, learning a lot, carry on.

Sometime back I had heard a rumor that there was a conventional layout single engine smaller brother for the J-20. I am not sure if this has something to do with the JF-17/ J-10 programs and their eventual future replacements.

J-10’s eventual replacement, the lowend mix.

The likelyhood of Japan joining up with SAC is the same as Euro or US joining up with Russia on some fighter project..
IMO it will not happen in the next 40 years. One should never say never, but i just did.;)
Now can we pls move along here..

I agree that we should move along,

I brought SAC (Shenyang Aircraft ) into the fray because the requirements and lay out for SAC’s “private venture” 4th gen design is remarkablly similar to Japan’s Next Stealth Fighter, and some respect KDX-3’s requirement.
I already qualified my comment by saying if one were to put aside nationalistic leanings.

And Btw, No, I do not think a joint fighter is impossible.

you sure love your strawman arguments don’t you. No one ever questioned the existence of foreign aircraft wind tunnel models outside of China and Russia so your point is moot to begin with.

if you would have finished reading my post, …

You clearly does not know that 1) Li Tian of 601 is in the photo, and 2) you do not know that 601 does not do foreign technology.

or else you wouldn’t point to the wind tunnel model and say something like it looks like some “foreign adversary” ‘s model at airshows so it might be foreign technology work.

I am just to point out your obvious lack of background information in this area.

    BAck to topic,

ShinShin is a really good sized aircraft for Korea,
If Japan is willing, I think it would be nice “East Asian Eurofighter”?,

Heck, even SAC’s recent self funded design if my guess is correct, should be in the same class. and layout is remarkablly similar to shinshin,
    so,
why not have a tri-lateral fighter consortium. there is no point to waste more money and time. nice alternative to F-35. may be even make some money while at it.

off topic and irrelevant. we’re talking about Korea’s likelihood of partnering with a neighboring country for aircraft. PRC more so unlikely than Japan. not vice versa.

    Oh,
remind me who brought up the topic of Chinese Hate Koreans?

only degrading if you have too much senseless pride.
check out this wind tunnel model from Russia. looks quite alike the YF-22 (unlike the supposed J-16 model above).. and the Raptor’s design has changed since then

    FYI

with in chinese defense organization there is a foreign technology organization that routinely stuck Foreign designs models into wind tunnels.

Those people separate from the Chinese aircraft industries. Mr Li Tian (the guy ran the design team in 601) as far as I know are not involved in those efforts.
Now I will give you the pleasure of identifying from that photo which of the gentleman is Mr Li. Consider the ignorance you have displayed so far in this discussion I think it would be a good exercise for you. 😉

btw, China and Russia are not the only country that stick foreign a/c models into wind tunnels.
