Hotdawg stop picking on peoples spellings.
You may disagree with i.e and he can be biased in certain things, but he is one of the most knowledgeable posters here especially when it comes to anything Chinese.
hey, thanks Quady for sticking up, sorta of. 😀
I am less biased than many of you think.
chini hindi bhai bhai! 😀
Not to mention the J-15 will probably not be as refined as the original Su-33 in some areas being a first attempt and that too RE’ed. Put an AESA & new AAMs on the MiG-29 series (the RVV-BD comes to mind) and the bird can do fairly well even against larger types.
how do you know? just how the **** do you know for sure?
The main gear legs are beefed up on the Su-33 – exactly the same as in the J-15 photo……
I can zoom in on both if necessary – but take it from me, the main gear legs on the Su-33 are fatter than those on a Su-27.
Ken
Thanks Ken
Looks like the mains oleos are defintely thicker.
Nose gear is redesigned and thicker too.
What the hell are you talking about? Do you think they constructed an accurate mathematical model without an accurate physical model? Er…no. They used the T-10K to construct an accurate J-15 wind-tunnel model (using classical physical similarity and dimensional analysis techniques), only then could it be subjected to the mathematical models which take into account the full 3-D viscosity of fluid motion (Navier-Stokes equations).
CFD would then be used to solve these equations by means of finite-difference methods (FDM), finite-element methods (FEM) and boundary-element method (BEM). Then, once the numbers have been crunched, an uber accurate model is constructed and subjected to ‘real-world’ analysis (in different flight regimes- see pic below) hopefully devoid of scale effects such as relative departures of Reynolds, Froude, Weber, Mach numbers.
So, in essence, the acquisition of the T-10K was a ‘gold mine’ of information and you should stop pretending otherwise.
yep you have no Idea with what I just said.
oh btw have you ever seen the difference between a cfd prediction CL/Cm curve vs a cryo tunnel results? if you have, what typically would happen?
or even more basic, generally what’s the mach effect on your typical CL/CM curves typically as mach number approach 1? you don’t even have to gone to cryo tunnel for that one,… if you have ever seen a set of real curves on a real aircraft you would answer that pretty easily right?
come on, it’s time to face the test.
and
What I said in that paragraph was a common challenge aerodynamicists faced in real problems. you don’t know what you don’t know so you use “hopefully” as a plan for dealing with these effects.
ah what’s the use.
you prob even don’t know what a cryo tunnel is, and how crucial that would be in predicting re-effects in development cycles. 😉
Didn’t the Israelis actually receive the blueprints, drawings or whatever from Dassault through unofficial or even illegal channels in the 1960s?
Heard they received crates full of disassembled 2nd hand Mirages. That would mean they never really got as far as to reproduce the aircraft. Hard to say. But an example in the Hatzerim museum sports a plate with Aerospatiale written on it so there might be something to it.
I thought Dassault looked the other way while Mossad did its work, even did a “opps I must have dropped it” routine, so IAI did obtain majority of the materials?
l just have to make a remark here,
Just look at the size and girth of that gear oleo tubes. 😮
does any one have a similar angle stock Su-27 and a Su-33 stock photo to show the difference between the 3?
Thanks a million.
warn over what? quoting your own writing? lol
perhaps you should read what you wrote
http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1819188&postcount=296
you won’t understand.
you’re the one who said to thrust you
Look I usually warn people before they pull a fast one infront of my eyes, thinking they can get away with it. so they can have a chance.
never mind about this, I am too old for this **** anyways,
I’m sure he’d be happy to oblige 😉
I really, really, really hate to drag what one do during the day onto the internet.
****
never mind I am too old for this.
Actually, if you look at the last page 😉
opps.
Thanks TR1
What!?
No picture of that FC-1 with 2xC802 on the tarmac in chengdu yet?!
the forum’s standards has fallen.
I’m not sure. What would this give you over an armed L-15 version?
dirt cheap.
PLA runs its own rebuilt line for AL-31F, and they were not happy with AL-31Fs FNs reliability and short cycles, at least the early version. quite a bit of effort were put in to rebuilt them to last longer.
incidentally, one of the latest request from PLA to russian engine makers is for increased hours between overhuals. not surprised if they are negoitiating something like a “power by the hour” typically done in civil world. 🙂
WS-10 wise the early production version suffered in the infant mortality region. later on they redesigned and put in new processes to make them better.
As for WS-10 vs AL-31F, I don’t want to start a flame war over nothing.
but one thing I do caution…
dismissing chinese progress in this area borders on stupidity. things are moving pretty fast, actually fastest in the world.
what’s true may be 2 years ago may not be true today.

PS. they are spending tremendous amounts of money (close to 100B yuan last I heard) to accelerate their R&D right now. you know what they say: money is not a sufficient but it is necessarily.
FYI,
on the record, I do not work for Chinese aerospace industry.
nor do I have any “special” connection to them.
having said that, I do read alot of stuff and have had the previlage to see and understand some of their work.
@Jō Asakura
you don’t really understand what you are talking about. thrust me.
if you ever had to deal with a real project where your CFD and your Re effects departs from each other the moment you hit cryo tunnel, you wouldn’t dare to put down the garbage that you have put down in post dated “4th November 2011 20:34”.
@BlackArcher.
there is prob 2 person on the internet that who can find out who I am and what I do for a living. It’s not sexy. but I value my privacy and relative anonymity above all else.
You mean facts like the J-15 is a Su-33 rip-off?
Your long tirades don’t change that, sorry pal.
looks like you are unwilling to keep an open mind but instead content to sticking labels, “rip off! rip off!” .
lol.
talking to you is like talking to a 6 year old. you are perfectly happy to stay in the “is so, is not, is so, is not ” world of yours.
oh well, good day to you. 😮
pretty sad state of affair where most of people on the internet is willing to close their mind off.
