Black Dragon. Save Ghost/Spirit Dragon for the next gen.
black dragon…
possible connection to Amur/ Black Dragon River in NE China, too close to CAC’s rival in Shengyang.
nahh…
The best source is obviously the Su-27SK manual which you should be able to download from airwar.ru. Other bits and pieces can be found by googling the designations of the various Russian datalink systems (TKS-2, APD-518 etc.) in Latin or Cyrillic script. I’m not that familiar with older command links like Lazur, but a short description is found here: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~fta/MiG-29-4.htm – maybe the MiG-29 manual has more.
Thanks x million.
Older stuff like LAZUR is what intrigues me the most.
also the solution implemented on P-5 “Shaddock”…
today we have it easy, engineering solutions is easily programmable.
I highly doubt the nickname for J-20 is “Black Hawk”.
FC-1: “Xiao Long “, or “Fierce Dragon”
J-10 : “Meng Long”, or Vigorous Dragon”.
see the pattern?
my bet is:
J-20 ” “XXX Long”, or “something Dragon”.
….
imho they should start using Dinosaur species to name these.
@Trident
on a seperate but similar topic.
I always find the datalink use by Soviet Aircraft especially in PVO service fascinating. that was in the age before every system is digital.
is there any good technical resources you can refer to?
thanks!
Yeah, Song’s paper is a must reading when talking about J-20.
do you have the complete english version?
I have the complete chinese version.
because you posted too many rubbish there:diablo:
all my rubbish is a response to some other rubbish :diablo:
Russian equipment required the pilot to do a lot more functions manually, which required them to be looking down into the cockpit much more, than Western designs. This made it much more difficult for the pilot to focus on tactics.
doesn’t Saphire Radar display Radar image onto HUD?
They arent short of them over at the SD Forum. They just jumped down a new members throat for daring to be different.
well, both extremes are wrong and represent some immaturish view of the state of affairs.
When the gulf states are going to buy more chinese stuff than US, European, or Russian, when China will have at least 1 base in the gulf protecting its fuel supply, when China will have a plane competing with western or russian in Brazil or other country, we shall see.
I agree with the rest of the crowd that China is becoming a giant that is going to be able to lead in meany area, compete and even rival the US in the future, but that day is simply not today.
It is bit funny that your entire argument rest upon these arguments:
1) those gulf oil states buys fighters HW only from the best and politics don’t apply, and since china don’t sell them any jets now chinese aerospace industry must not be up to the standard.
2) China doesn’t have a military base in gulf, which somehow indicates Chinese aviation industry is in bad shape.
3) that I do not live in china and suffer power shortages.
…
and why is Brazil dragged into this thing?
Is this the state of argument today?
Probably never. I don’t see it in this thread nor in any other thread. No one claims the J-20 is the best program “evah.”
Your jealousy and racism is making you imagine that the Chinese are claiming something that they never did.
yeah, no one claim as such. ( all I hear is really “American will always be #1” and “PAK-FA has the best aero”)
heck I even came out and defended PAK-FA prototype as been different stages in the program thus not comparable.
may be I should start a “dirt in Chinese aerospace program” thread just to help with their egos. rofl.
Let’s put things in perspective here.
Here in a major western industrialized state, where i live right now, I can not get reliable 3G service where I live. and only get one of the giant corporation’s internet service and the internet speed is maxed at 1~3 mbps up and download.
meanwhile ZTE is building a 4G network down in Bolivia.
time to wake up.
see my reply in blue.
Nope they usually buy the best available and don’t really care about politics as long as its come with long term commitment and stability.
well, after 91′ kuwait bought bunch of Chinese made 155 self-propelled howitzers, is that the best availble or political comitment?
or what about the saudis who bought a bunch of DF-3A back in 80s? is that the best avialble or don’t care about politics.
or what about the BAE’s little kick back in those saudi contract? Is that best availble or don’t care about politics.
http://www.mideastmonitor.org/issues/0705/0705_4.htm
and those giant american bases built in saudi desert are non-political and only the best available right? also those saudi F-15s?An fighter jet represent the best abilities of your industries. The best your overall industry is, the best your military tech is going to be. Since you people just want to look at a nice looking picture and jumps up and down getting all exited about it, I ask your logic to interrogate the facts and tell you:…
hey, I am not jumping up and down. all the denigration has been accompanying this thing ever since the monment this thing is leaked (photoshopped! wooden mockup! not real!) and what do we have today? may be you should take a cue from pentagon and admit that they have underestimated the speed which this thing has been brought into being?is China industry capable as of today to superceed US industry and build a plane that is going to scare a F22 pilots into staying at home.
apparently they did. :diablo:
If your answer despite all your best jugment is yes then you should perharps move to China, and if you can plug you computer to a reliable power supply maybe once you have figured out how to find google and then aviation forum you can tell me how is the life over there !:dev2:
yeah, and those chinese forums and micro-blogs I have been surfing around on are apparently powered with bicycles right?
and you still hasn’t explained the part about how is “basing to protect oil” part of indication of your aerospace program’s capability.
When the gulf states are going to buy more chinese stuff than US, European, or Russian, when China will have at least 1 base in the gulf protecting its fuel supply, when China will have a plane competing with western or russian in Brazil or other country, we shall see.

and why is a base in gulf relevent to any Chinese aviation industrial capability 😮
or geopolitical arms buying arrangement of mid-eastern oil states? 😮
is this the end-state of denial? going onto a completely different plane of discussion? 😮
Not sure how the RD-93 counterpart (not a finished product either from what I can tell) is 1 gen ahead.
sorry,
I thought Pinko’s chart had that program listed.
no it is not listed.
Well they bought more than enough RD-93s for JF-17 for many years to come, no surprise they stopped buying them. Lots of sources indicate the RD-93 purchases are not done yet.
typically,
They buy russian hw and they have a domestic counterpart program to develope a non-reverse-engineer replacement that is 1-generation ahead. at same time.
On Pinko’s chart you would have seen the RD-93’s counterpart also.
