I will correct that, I didn’t mean the Filton site was closing, its ability to produce complet aircraft or work on them will go should the airfield close as planned at the end of this year.

    History will recall

    Thatcher screwed the Steel industry.

Cameron did the same for the UK Aviation Industry.

    Woodford closed.

    Chadderton closed.

    Brough closed.

    Filton closing.

Heart breaking, can’t afford to fly the aircraft, but can afford to keep the people on the dole and thereby lose the skills for generations to come.

    Petition signed.
This Government is an ass. Taking this action will drive more members of the forces into civi street, or is that what they want?
Big respect for our forces, anyone not signed yet please do so, if you feel its not required shame on you.
Go and look at the state of some of the MQs at some of our RAF bases (well the few that are left) it will give you a big surprise.

It works out that as the buyer takes out an option he is allocated an MSN (slot on the line) then as production moves on and dependent when the customer and manufacturer agree/decide on delivery his A/C can move on the line. Thus the MSN’s dont run in order.
Hope this helps. good info here.

By the way I was driving over the ‘Blue Bridge’ in Queensferry this morning (8.45am) and the barge had just gone under the bridge with a Stbd wing on board, thats only the 2nd time in 8 years I’ve managed to catch sight of a wing going down the Dee. The weather this morning was pretty crap, driving rain. Only looked down the river as we crossed to see how high the tide was or I ‘d have missed it the boat so to speak.

    BAE on Twitter — USA

I follow BAE on twitter so was some what surprised to hear that the HAWK is doing a sales tour of the US last night while tonight I’m faced with the Brough site closing down. I can only feel for all the work force.
