Well if you think that in the 21st century the head of state should be decide by birth-right. From a family that, lets be honest, is far removed from the man on the Clapham Omnibus…..a family who’s children have notable problems. A family who’s lineage is to a large degree from outside the UK.
I could go on and on……..I mean some of the relatives we even quite keen on old Adolf I seem to remember from my history books.

If we are a democracy we should be able to vote on who we want to be our head of state.

If the country want the royal family to be head of state lets have a vote on it.

In my opinion as long as the Royal Family remains in place nothing significant will change in the UK. Things need to change, we need real democracy. Are we the only nation in the western world without an elected second chamber ? The man in the street cannot afford access to the legal system unless they can get legal aid or are very rich.

If we do not make serious changes to the UK and the way it is governed this country will face riots similar to those that are presently occuring, daily.

Please Moggy…..give me a formed argument not a childish comment.

The “management” of the UK are only interested in maintaining the status quo of ensuring the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The are not interested in the man in the street at all.

As long as the public schools and class system is maintained nothing will change.

If this country is to stand any chance may I recommend the following

AA/ An end to the royal family replaced by an elected president.

BB/ A proper election system – an end to first past the post.

CC/ A proper elected second chamber.

DD/ A written bill of rights.

EE/ A written constitution.

FF/ A society based on opportunity and ability not what public school you went to.

GG/ Elected police chiefs and associated personel who are responsible to the local people.

HH/ Return the gas, water, electricity and transport systems to public ownership.

With a possible economic melt down just around the corner, get used to this, stock up on tined food, fuel and buy as much gold as you can.

You might think am barking……but I can smell some very interesting coffee.

Oh and finally, as someone once said to me ” If you always do what you always did then you will always get what you always got” . People if we things to change, we have to start doing things differently.

I am more concerned about the appailing lack of leadership at the top that is about to take the world, potentially, into a world wide recession with horrific possible outcomes.

According to the history I have read, the only difference between 1929/1931 and now is that in 1929/31 they were trying to pop up the gold standard, today they are trying to prop up bond prices.

Unless some “top neddies” get there act together the possible economic outcomes should freighten everyone backwards.

Nope, Tottenham was not good but please lets address the real issues before western society starts to melt. Believe me…..it could happen !!

So far I would agree with you. Why not just write a book about war poetry.

He seems to have no grasp of the dreadful odds against Bomber crew survival.

One of the interesting things, I think about Bomber Command was the intigration of the crews. For the first time the “non public school chaps” had a chance to become aircrew plus the mix with all the “empire” crew members.
I thought he might of touched on this, alas not.

I will soldier on to the end but I am disappointed, it all seems a little self righteousness.
