Still no snow here. 🙁
Eindoven closed because of snow, Newquay runway closed (not snow related) and problems with Italian traffic control due to the strike. 😮
Cheers. Hadn’t looked at the Airfix website for ages. 🙂
I think you will find the correct address is http://www.airfix.com/ 🙂
the web adress is http://www.wingsandwheelsphotography.fpic.co.uk. a mouth full i know. Hope to hear some comments from anyone taking the time to view…
Yup, got the beginnings of a good site there, Good luck! 😀
I’ll probably incur Ben, Matt and Phil’s wrath for this, but I like the look of the Volpar conversion!
Anybody know the story behind it?
The Beech 18 was converted by several companies as the Airmotive Tradewind, Dumod 1 and Volpar Super Turbo 18. The first tricycle Beech was available from September 1963. Air America operated 32 Beech 18’s and Volpar 18’s.
P.T. Barnum, where have I heard that name before? :p
And another in it’s right place! 🙂
‘BVE? Of course! Looked very ‘active’ 😀 in September ’05 at Breighton. 🙂
Found a photo of the crash. Should be repairable, eventually. Old Tigers never die! 🙂 What do you think the white objects by the engine cowling are?
I met Gail when he came over with the C54 of the Berlin airlift historical foundation in (IIRC) 1998 – He acted as co-pilot in the C54!! (great bunch of people who opperate this lovely aircraft)
Fantastic chap – very warm/kind hearted – it was great to talk to him. His book is a great read as well.
I agree, I met him at a Mormon church in Southampton about ’86 and he was an inspiration. 🙂
I don’t know whether the ‘take off attitude’ will grab the attention quite like the pose the old DC-3 had when I saw it in February. It certainly made you double take!
If anyone’s in the Orlando area – Polk City is a must-do visit, not to mention taking a ride in the New Standard pleasure flight biplane, or even some dual in a Stearman (at less than you’d pay for dual in a Cessna over here!)
And don’t forget, they have ‘our’ Sunderland. :p Wonder if it will ever fly again? 🙁
How did the DC-3 get positioned like that, is it weighted in the nose or held there with a bit of 2 x 4?
I’ll let you off this time! Hasn’t G-OJVC reverted to its original registration now?
Yes, it is now G-AHCL. 🙂

Mother defends husbands action in removing the body!
Looks very like N7DW which was at Sun N Fun 2004 and has been for sale ever since. She needs a fair amount of work doing to her.
Thanks David, this information tallies with the database, so I would suspend my assumption that the plane is in Europe, unless someone knows different! 😉
Over a month and no new postings!
Check out the highly modified 1951 Chipmunk available for sale! 😮
The plane is in Europe probably Germany, any idea of it’s identity?
The second Argosy built ‘PRL was retained by AWA for trials (one MAM member, an ex AWA Test Engineer I think has a wonderful set of colour transparencies he took on “hot and high” trial in Africa) that included having a beaver-door rear end fitted that was to be standard on the examples to be supplied to the R.A.F.
Roger Smith.
Here is a photo of the beaver tail Argosy, the nose did not open.
Actually, apologies to all for committing the cardinal sin of posting without searching 🙁

Apology accepted while I was checking the above. My information from about 2003 was that G-NDNI was stored in Hangar 1 at Coventry and four or five Freelance (?) fuselages were stored in Hangar 6.
