According to another thread the airlines are already getting in there.
Aer Arann have already announced Cardiff – Cork
And im sure the rest wont be far behind…..
Rumours of Eastern doing NCL, makes sense for Aurigny to get in on it with JER.
And im sure Air Southwest will have something up their sleaves.
Yeah we’re losing an airline, but with Air Wales past record, surely it would have started to effect the reputation of the airport, where people would travel with another airline from another airport.
If we now get another airline that has the stability to eventually expand further, surely this would be better for the airport in the long run?
PeterP seems to know more :dev2:
So lets just wait and see.
Website only taking booking until the end of April
The masterplan was due out in Feb, then mid March, so it cant be far off.
The 737 stands are making the Stand 1 side more ‘plane friendly’ as Stand 1 is usually only used by the smaller aircraft (ATR’s etc). Moving the baby’s (soon to be triplets!), ryanair and other 737s makes room for the larger charters on the international pier side 3 x Tom, 1 x MYT 1x First Choice. They will probably occupy that side alone, not to mention the extras poppiing in! At the moment it appears they are just making room for what we’re going to be getting this summer, with a little extra spare space. Anymore airlines and echo will have to be used, i think those buses will come in handy once again after all!
Isn’t that a bit too ambitious
I’d have to agree, not long left until the summer kicks in.
There doesnt seem to be much happening around Stand 1 lately either, i dont know how far they are from finishing it all.
Also no mention of the work to be done on the international pier either?
Lets hope they dont contract the same people that are building wembley! 😮
Nice to see this being promoted and great news for Cardiff after speculation of Luton getting all the investment.
Hopefully, all going well this summer, we can show the true potential at CWL!
Work is due to be completed by the summer.
How much is left to do on the old pier? They are cutting it fine to start the other work, surely?
Heres to the Heathrow of the West! :p 😀 :diablo:
Not at all. Air Wales need a good kick up the tail fin!
Some investment (and we know he has the money for it!) in their aircraft to boost their reliability is what they need at the moment, they have had such a bad run of things lately that their reputation must have taken a bashing.
According to Airfleets, the ATR 42’s are newer than Aer Arann’s. Do Aer Arann get as many problems with theirs? Or is it just poor maintenence?
If they are to expand with these routes, something needs to be done to ensure they can make them work, without messing everything up just as they start to fly them
Ooops my mistake. FCA and MYT are A320’s.
There did used to be 2 MYT a/c based untill MYT started getting into trouble and they pulled a lot of routes. Last year was 1 based a/c doing 2/3 flights a day through the summer, no winter service, and this year is supposed to be the same. At least generally things are getting better for them, hopefully soon they will increase again at Cardiff.
Cardiff :
Excel 1 x 734 (New base)
First Choice 1 x A321
MyTravel 1 x A321
Thomsonfly 1 x 73X 1 x 757 1 x 763 (3 Days only, Shared with DSA)

Zoom are excellent value for money, the common term – Pay peanuts, get monkeys’ is thrown out the window!
They may be upping the charges – doubled the excess baggage charge to £5 and premium is now £79, which is quite an increase from what it was, but when compared to other airlines they are only falling into line!
I hope they expand and wish them every success!
Cant work out why the website isn’t working properly. Where are you travelling from/to?
It all depends on the check-in staff. Most will overlook it, or not notice it at all.
However we all know how ryanair are with charges and targets, so it does depend on the day.
I dont think with such a small mistake it will really matter.
Just be really nice to the check-in staff ! It always works on me! :dev2: :p
Does anyone now of any other sites like this? Be interesting to see figure for the smaller airports – Cardiff/Bristol/Doncaster etc
According to BA site BA176 from JFK – LHR now cancelled, stating its landing time at Cardiff. Earlier it was just delayed.
Also flight now been taken off LHR arrivals board, where again earlier it was just delayed.
Obviously Road transport all way bk.
2/3 Taxi’s and a motorbike should fit them all!!
Yes BA Cardiff is regularly used for the 747’s.
I work at the airport and wondered what the diversion was for. Just thought it was weather down south-east. Obviously not.
the plane may have been instructed by BA management to divert to Cardiff to save a later ferry flight back their for routine maintenance (shove the crew and passengers into taxis up to Heathrow!)
Fair comment, as alot of 747’s have been passing through lately.

A post from last yr
BA seem to have smoke machines installed in their cabin. Maybe the crew are having a disco up there! Or their crew are just from Cardiff 😀
That is a lot of capacity! Ryanair must be fighting back, cant see them pulling out or reducing frequency to put money in aer arrans pockets!
Is there really call for all 3 airlines to operate? As ryanair times are staying more or less the same, Air Wales and Aer Arran need to think wisely about costings and timing.
Great news about the airbridges and other work finally in progress! We’ll need it to cope with expansion!
Hadn’t heard anything of the bridges, just that they were improving access to stand 1, with a possible walkway, handy with the lack of buses (or drivers!)
Spence, Where did you find out about the plans? Can you enlighten us further, or mail me with the info, interested to know whats going on!
