Roller Boots Perkins…didn’t i see him in a seventies porn flick?
:D:D Knowing him yes ! Going on a 5 mile run with him today:) he wanted to do 20 miles:eek::rolleyes: he forgets I am 15 years older than him.
Thanks for all the suggestions and recommendations, please keep them coming.
I visited Arromanches many years ago, but missed Pegasus Bridge so I think the latter is definitely on the agenda this time.
Actually Plane Space, Oradour-Sur-Glane is within 30 miles of our final destination. I had not realised this so I’m grateful for the suggestion. I’m sure it can be included in a day out from base.
No Typhoons at Bayeux, and the possibility of an overall disappointment, eh? So where do I go to see a (plastic) Typhoon in Normandy?
I’m warming to the idea of a visit to the Menin Gate. Ypres would be a good place to overnight before Day 2 of WW1 sightseeing.
And thanks for the tip about Franglais, Moggy, there may still be space for a bottle or two of red on the way back. Part of the intent of this trip is to get myself better acquainted with French Cider and Perry. I already have that list fully researched and scheduled! 🙂
🙂 Here is the Website . http://www.oradour.info/
Very nice pictures:) nice to see blue skies.
Getting a text from Roller Boots Perkins to say he had 2 weeks leave from the marines.

Probably not good for your trip, but if I could recommend one location in France worth a trip, it would be Oradour-Sur-Glane.
A very nice Fireman that was attending an incident 🙂 when our eyes connected and he nearly walked into a glass door.:D

You must be looking a the wrong type then.:D
The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it.:D

Why is a woman’s work never done? Because she doesn’t do it right first time:D
I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man I keep his house. :p:D:D

G’day Folks, greetings from Oz.
Anna, It that the Hadleigh in Essex? Hope so. I was raised in Thundersley and went to King John Secondary school. Ah happy memories. Been in Oz for some 28 years and now fly a Jabiru LSA55. Somewhat different to the Lightnings I used to work on. I can say that I have been up close and personal with the Spits, Hurricane and Lancaster of the B.o B. Flight when it was at Coltishall. My first posting was to Abingdon , 47 Sqdn Beverleys. Only there for a year before retraining for jets.
Must say, I still miss the English greenery, early morning gallops across frosted fields and sometimes, the rain. We’ve had 3 years of drought.(Adelaide)
Thanks for the memory and, Have a nice day. I will.
Cheers, Doug.
Hi Doug
Yes it was Hadleigh in Essex, glad it brought back good memories for you. Best Regards Anna 🙂
