Thanks for the steer TonyT
I have pointed the family towards the Sqn Associations. I will follow up on pprune forum.
Thanks again!
Didn’t they use a Chinook to lift and move a Meteor in Gloucester a while back too?
Large single radial engined aircraft low and slow over mid Wales late this morning. Low and slow, dipped wing to look at the village show I was attending. Difficult to ID as I was look towards the sun. First thoughts were sea fury, but had a stretched canopy, wings were clipped like later Mk Spitfire. I know most civilian ac types that fly these remote parts from Welshpool and shobdon airfields, not seen this one before. Any ideas guys?
He is a top lad and was a good soldier. His corner has been sided by some quite highly placed military officers, I know that much!

I wasn’t seeing things then! Thank you for the link. She must have been one of the longest serving Hunters. Shame she never got back in the air, sad end but at least she is still in one piece
my thoughts and prayers are with all involved, owe these guys so much, they surely saved my life a few times.
V. Unusual as they were all retired two years ago – one is at the FAA Museum store, one at AAC Museum store (Awaiting permission from DGSF to be displayed) and the other two are in use as instructional airframes!

One of Herefords A109s flying low and fast W to E along the northern edge of the Black Mountains on Friday.
It was definitely a Dominie! Trust me!
OT but my father was on 1 Sqn at the time (Groundcrew), they were recalled from Cold Lake in Canada rather sharpish to go south and meet the Atlantic Conveyor. I’m going out to Spain to see my folks later this year, I’ll have a root through his old pics and see what I can unearth. Also, there’s a chap in my building who was an AE on Hercs during the war, he’s still serving now, i’ll ask him about pics too, see if anythign nice can be unearthed.
Intriging to know how many people are still serving that wear the South Atlantic medal too.
I know of two Falkland veterans still serving, WO1 (GSM) Mott MBE 1WG, and WO2 (CSM) Flynn CGC MC RHG/D.
Thanks for the ideas guys. Havnt had a chance to look at it today as it was too dark after I finished work.
Due to extremely cold weather recently could the Thermostat be “Frozen” in the closed position therefore stopping the coolant flowing around the engine? Just a thought I had today!
The car is a 1996 Toyota Carina E 1.6 Petrol, 85,000 miles. Its our old admin car!

The smoke seems to be emitting from the bottom of the engine block, near to the exhaust manifold. A gasket maybe??
