From Wikipedia
One squadron totaling 15 missiles was deployed at 5 sites near İzmir, Turkey from 1961 to 1963. They were operated by U.S. Air Force personnel. The first flight of three Jupiter missiles were turned over to the Türk Hava Kuvvetleri (Turkish Air Force) in late October 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. U.S. Air Force personnel controlled arming of the nuclear warheads. The actual deployment locations of the Jupiter MRBM missiles within Turkey are still secret more than 40 years later. According to some that took part in the Turkish missile deployment in 1961, one of the five sites was in the mountains near Manisa, and another site was in the mountains near Akhisar. The central deployment base was Cigli Air Force
Cr@p, I thought that BBC Look East did a good job, for everybody, or haven’t you seen it.
Yes Pete I did see the Look East clip and I thought they did a good job of the presentation. My comment was to the fact some people expect an in depth history of an event right down to the pilots inside leg measurement, no insult to the presentation by Look East. The other Bloke is still a Div but at least he got his picture:diablo:
Bumps a daisy !
What a crappy clip from the BBC, leaving out all the salient facts of
what?, where? why? when? who? and couldn’t even film the landing(s) properly!
It’s local news for local people not enthusiaists…….especially that div who jumped in front of the camera just as it landed thereby getting a great closeup of the back of his head:rolleyes:
I was given a model from Shell Aerofuels as a promo gift for the fuel we order from them just
after the advert was aired:D…….

60163 Class A1 60163 is not a train, its a locomotive and a brand new one to boot. A train is made up of a locomotive and coaches/carriages. This distinction is really important and the media really hacks me off when they use the description of a locomotive as a train on the TV, newspapers etc. It’s important to me because I’m a steam locomotive enthusiast as well as a heritage aviation enthusiast and, well, you know how it is with enthusiasts. And, before you ask, yes I have had quite a good day today which was topped off by seeing a lancaster fly past my window about 20 mins ago. (It happens a lot round here as does seeing “Tornado” passing through my local railway station so, to reflect briefly, I’m quite lucky really so I’d better stop whinging right now!)
Only a Gricer would come out with this:):p:):D:p:)

If a programme on BBC3 or 4 gets better than expected viewers then they will re-run it later on 1 or 2. Richard Wilsons current series on Drives around the UK was on 3 or 4 previously but is being repeated on BBC2. There was also a programme about a steam train last year that got such unexpectedltyl good viewers on BBC4 it was put on BBC2 within a few weeks.
So if its any good it might appear later
That’ll be Tornado then;)

Last time I went it was controlled entry gates………….you got ticket from entry gate and if you were 15 mins or less you got out for free, anything after that you had to go to reception and pay and get ticket validated to let you out.
