Try Santa Pod when they have Run what ya brung days!!

Theres the length of the runway to play with 🙂 Fireforce does the standing quarter in about 5 seconds and about 290mph bigger engine though

Is it me or are the russian freighters becoming ever more prevelant in UK airspace? What are they shipping? Munitions to Iraq and toys from China?

Anteus is coming to pick up a 42 tonne generator rotor for a power station in Madras.

They do a lot of runs with vehicles/rations etc for the support of the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Then there are a lot of charters carrying general goods like Playstations and other electronic gear for the Christmas rush. Another is the annual Beaujolais run from France to Japan and other cargos have included elephants and other wildlife.

They are utilised on a vast range of cargos and destinations for many varied people.

It’s no problem, you came in through the main gate, tell them you are going to the Squadron. Follow the road around there are Traffic lights at the Runway threshold so no worry there, even if green have a cautionary look both ways!! You drive past the aircraft on the way around to the Squadron where you can have a full English whilst watching the aircraft!!

There is a lack of crew to fly these aircraft at the moment (only one pilot per aircraft trained acc to the guys on PPRUNE)

So cheaper to spend money on diesel than AVTUR!!

How many were at Finningley in, say, 1973/4? I was there, in Engineering, but only ever saw one in very deep servicing during my whole time there.

    Affectionately entitled “The Flying Pig”.

I was there 76-77 (Royal review planning team) if I remember correctly there was about 6 left. I went on the last NAVEX out to Gatow as well on a 3 ship. Did a couple of Hasting flights out of Lindholme as well.

Cracking low level of the Pig!!

Heavylift went bust and the Belfast was bought by a NEWCO called Heavylift International then exported to Oz where she does a bit a cargo work there, hopefully BEPS will go out to join it although under which country of registration as GBEPS was withdrawn by the CAA in 2003
