1- Is the other one close to being finished?
2- Is the sole flying example airborne a lot – or rarely in the air?

The A10 rounds are ok as they were only ball ammunition with no explosives etc in them….although they are not pleasant being on the receiving end of them in my experience!!
Now the 28lbers they are a different kettle of fish!!

The presenter said that because the nearest service station was 40 miles? away that motorists will need somewhere to stop?
:
What aload of cods…….southbound by 18 miles you have the STN turnoff with a full Motorway facility @ jct 8 and theres one northbound @ the M11/A14 intersection

Sorry New Forest forgot to quote Albert Ross’s post 😀 below
Just finished watching the “Red Arrows” selection procedure on BBC1, during which I think our delightful lady presenter needs to do more research. We were told that “during the 1940s, the skies were awash with aerobatic teams”….and “The VC-10 is the fastest transport aircraft in the world”…hmm! 😮
Any way

M0.94 if the spoilsports at BAe take away the speed restriction. Normally M0.84, M0.866 if the pub is beckoning.

I was at Cowden in the early 80’s(81-83) It was then an Air Weapons Range and had been for quite a while but initially it had been a tank range with moving targets on rails. Some of the infrastructure was still there towards the west of the range towards the old tower on the hill (now gone). Don’t know how much is left due to coastal erosion but when I was there a lot of 50’s and 60’s munitions were falling out of the cliff face on a regular basis. I was also there for the Black Buck practice bombing on target 8 out to see where the Vulcan was dropping 28lb smoke and flash practice bombs from if my memory serves me right 28000ft straight through the airway!!
Also had a Vulcan doing a laydown attack on TGT 8 from Spurn Point direction on a murky day, he called off hot we called no spot. Donna Nook the next range south of the Humber called up and asked if we had a vulcan go through on TGT8 as they had one exactly the same as ours, we said yes, they said score was 50ft 6 0’clock!!
Happy days 🙂

I think you will find the VC10 was/is the worlds fastest non supersonic transport/pax aircraft so I was told when I was @ BZZ…..I stand to be corrected though 😉

Hi Paul
As I said I’ve no probs with picture takers.
It was just his attitude that we were there only for his benefit. If he had just come over and said any chance of moving for a couple of secs he would have got a better response from my mate.
But there you go 😀

Went for a quick visit as I was in the area to meet a mate who was flying in his Jodel…..met him on the flightline by his aircraft.
We’d been talking for about 10 mins when this voice came spouting up. “Would you people move I’m trying to take pictures here and you are in the way” He soon got short shrift and sent on his way without his picture..
Normally I’ve got no problem with spotters but this one really got my goat and gives the normal ones a bad name. Other than that didn’t appear to be as good as previous shows with a lot of no show’s from the usual exhibitors.
Maybe they need to move back up north again as even from Essex it’s a long drag for the day.

Cheers Gratsch 😀

Was based on true events!!
In November 1965, 450 U.S. soldiers were dropped into a small clearing in the Ia Drang Valley. They were surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers.

If it’s carried in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods regulations there should be no problem….even Munitions of War can be carried on civil aircraft with appropriate permits…

Looks like one of those black bin liner type inflatables that rely on the suns radiation to keep them up 🙂
