    [QUOTE=Schorsch]

    The 45 Million USD is a highly questionable figure sounding like marketing of a Antonov manager.

    Right it came from of the senior management guys in Kiev

    [QUOTE=Schorsch]Which is dumb talk, because it would be very costly and the market perspective is not too great.

    Not really dumb as latest quote to get second 225 up and running was between USD30 and USD45mil which is quite cheap when you consider the cost a new 747F and there is a market for a second 225 or Volga would not be chasing the second one 😉

    I forgot earlier, it might get out of here on time. There were some…er…issues when the jet landed. Tried to taxi where there was a distinct lack of taxiway. Dunno if anything actually broke though.

    From what I understand ATC sent aircraft down wrong taxyway resulting in 2 of rear trucks cutting the corner slightly…..so no issue with aircraft all ATC’s fault!!

    Was a Volga Dnepr 124 VDA4284 RA76388 expect another today VDA4289 RA82074 acc to CFMU website.

    All 124 engines are cleared to Chapter 3 noise regulations and are close to being
    Chapter 4 !!

    ADB flew one out of Ingolstadt today at 0823Z ADB825F UR82007 going to Vatry.

    The 124’s are used a lot for NATO/German military charters to Kabul etc.

    There are plans for upto 3 aircarft to be on standby for this use in Germany.

    Even the Americans use The 124’s more than the C5’s

    I remember my times in Germany with the RAF that there were quite a lot of Autobahns that were to be used in the event of WAROPS these could be recognised ba a wider than normal width with concreted/tarmac centrestrip with removable barriers. These strips were approx 25-3000m long and staright! They had a Restplatz at either end for support vehicles etc and Bulk refuelling facilities. They could have been used by all strile aircarft and transport aircraft upto Herc size…
