Lowestoft 2011 Thursday
Not a bad show except the weather was a bit iffy and resulted in a few displays being cancelled.. The ones that did show were good 4 pictures below 3 of the reds and 1 of the new colours of a BBMF Spitfire ( at least new to me)

Tribute to Radar Pioneer
from the Martlesham Heath Braodcast List
A Memorial is being unveiled on the !4th August in honour of the late Keith Wood.
Keith was a member of Martlesham Heath Aviation Society. Keith was one of the original members of Robert Watson Watt’s team that discovered Radar or Radio Direction Finding. He worked at Orford Island and then at Bawdsey Manor. Radar played a very important part of the Battle of Britain and its possible that we would not have won without it.
I have included 2 links connected to Keith and Radar

Radar still continues to be a very important part of Aviaition today and also in many other area of todays World.
The ceremony will take part at Felixstowe Ferry just across the river from Bawdsey Manor at 2-30 Pm on Sunday 14th August. Keith’s daughter Judith will be present, to see this tribute to a man to whom we all owe so much.

the picture below was given to me by the son of a P51 pilot at Martlesham Heath in WW2. The pilot took the photograph and it shows P51s of the Leiston Group escorting a B17 with a Boxed G on the tail. The countryside below is Saxsted near framlingham in Suffolk. I cannot find any trace of a boxed G
just got this from a friend at the Confederate Air Wing
so please no one was hurt
I had a chuckle to myself over this.
The older memers amongst us might remember in the 50s and 60 there was a boys comic called The Lion and one of the regulare characters was a Paddy Payne, Battle of Britain Pilot. MY childhood hero character.
