is it true that chile’s f-16 will be armed with exclusively israeli weapons , derby python AAM and spice guided bomb and popeye cruise missile ?
That’s not true. 😎
Arthur, are you jealous about me spotting Saudi Aircraft or non-western aircraft? :p :diablo: .
I have to admit a mutual friend of ours and myself had a really nice encounter with two fine French products a few weeks ago 😀 .
Excuse me while I unexpectedly step in this conversation but…
An encounter with two french products??.. were all of them fixed wings “products”??? :diablo: C’mon….tell us more!
BTW Kfdrat….you know who I am… I like Namoras… :p
cheers,
Condor
The Rafale!
Oh my God!…what a piece of technology and art!
Wonderful and modern aircraft (although rather expensive too!), A-29. That would be a great choice and those birds would look terrific in Brazilian markings, so much is sure! 😎 .
Anyway…please keep us well informed about the process A-29.
Saludos
Oscar
Hello A-29.
Yes…I agree with you.
It seems that more F-16 will add to FACh inventory in the near future. If they’re not ex Dutch, then something will come out… That will definitely be a great help to reduce the high costs of maintaining the delta fleet… Beautiful planes…but so expensive to mantain…
I’ll be sad when they end their carrer in FACh 🙁
Saludos,
Condor
“10 aircraft is a joke. They should have gone the way the Portuguese did. A decent number of used Blk 15 and look to the Israelis, Belgians or anyone else to modify them and arm them.”
Hey man…have in mind that we’re not preparing any invasion or attack in the Middle East or something…
10 brand new state of the art aircraft is enough…believe me.
Besides…Chile doesn’t receive US$3000 million a year in military aid like israel to modify its warplanes…otherwise, I assure you we would do it by ourselves.
“In fact is 12 jets (08 single seaters and 04 two seaters) and for a country of the size of Chile and looking at a scenario for SA, is enough.
Quite right A-29… that’s the truth and nothing but the truth
(a minor correction, it’s 10 new planes…not 12)

Did anyone say the Su-35’s avionics are NOT as modern as F-16 block 50+’s? Give me some of whatever you’re smoking.
I thought the block 50+ already had CFT? Guess not. Or were they just upgraded to block 50+ standard instead?
Of course they have’em
But….the CFTs are removeable accesories…not fixed. You didn’t know that???
Have patience… the first Chilean Puma will fly on June. Perhaps there will be some surprses for you…
Stay tuned 😀
I’m sorry but $600 million is too much to pay for so few units.
Not if the pilot’s training, the complete maintenance suit, technical support, weapons, spares, integration of advanced AA weapons, etc, etc, etc, were included in the deal. 😎
They’re already here. They arrived several months ago 😎
Cool news for Latin america 😀
Yep, but don’t forget they’re intended just for spare purposes… 😎
Kinda old news…. 😎
But now I suppose it’s “official”…
I think not only for pilot training but also for ground crews. Not to mention that in the future, exercises can be made between Chilean and Turkish F16 squadrons.
Indeed…that’s for sure A-29.
Besides, we could get some of those “old” THK Block 30 to increase the number of planes in our fleet 😉
We’ll see…
A lot of rumours about the introduction of the Amramm in Chilean F16s, but they decided for the Derby, which was a nice move. I’m also read in a Brazilian Magazine that every year publishes a survey of the Latin American AFs that Chile signed an agreement with Turkey to train Chilean pilots assigned to the F16 (Turkey have a large experience on F16s and already operates block 50/52 version). Can our Chilean friends confirm this?
Regards
All indicates that it’s true A-29, especially in the field of pilot’s training.
But the official news, so far, are more or less like this (this was published in late July):
CHILE, TURKEY SIGN DEFENSE ACCORD
ANKARA – Turkey, seeking to expand options for its ailing defense industry, has signed a defense cooperation agreement with Chile.
The agreement could pave the way for joint defense ventures as well as training by the militaries of the two countries. Officials said Chile has also expressed interest in Turkish ground force systems.
“The agreement will help further improve the existing military cooperation between the two countries and create new opportunities for future,” Turkish Deputy Chief of Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug said.
The government in Santiago was represented at the ceremony by visiting Chilean Defense Minister Michelle Bachelet. Ms. Bachelet, who met Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, said the defense agreement reflected strategic ties between Chile and Turkey.
I think that the training of F-16s pilots has been included in that agreement…which sounds great, having in mind the years of practice and knowledge by the Türk Hava Kuvvetleri on the Fighting Falcon operations 😎
hello condor.
if i remember correctly, while reading at the eduardo ahumada site (fach) came across a chilean air force general (patricio rios?) saying “if it doesnt come with amraam we dont want it” and some more, in fact that talking went for a good while.
Hello Camaro. It’s good to read you again! 🙂
As for the “statements”…
Never read, heard something like that Camaro. If you can quote some official source or newspaper with quoted phrases, I would be amazed.
also the controversy about the u/s denying it to chile but kindly offering to brasil  with forced fach to decide for derby all over.
then again it might have been just loud rumours
Nothing but rumours and media noisy talking, as always Camaro.
As I said before, having in mind chilean experiences with Israel in the defence field, FACh had always in mind the Derby missile for the reasons I have explained above, so the AMRAAM -offered to the US many time under the table- was not in our plans.
BTW…nice pic of the “fat lady” 😀
camaro.
Big nose huh?!
I like it! :p
Saludos!

Well if there is any chilenean here , please forgive me but everytime I look at your Awacs with its funny nose I get a desire to laugh! . Looks like someone gave lots of punchs on the aircraft 😀
Definitely funny F5M!!!…But very useful and effective 🙂
Take a look at this!! 😮 😀
Hello , wecome to our forun!!!! Well US is really boring when it comes to allowing high tech military stuff for LA but the F16 they offered us are BVR capable and they even offered us some AMRAAMS , something CHile didnt get till now despite buying F16s . Seems they know theyrent the favorite!!! 😀
What many people doesn’t know is that Chile never requested the AMRAAMs at the time of the F-16s purchase, because the original plan was always to integrate the Derby BVR missile to the Falcons, which was already done in the F-5E Tigre III Plus fleet.
Flogger: Excellent pictures and comments. Just one precision: Chilean Mirage Elkans are painted in brown/green, while Mirage Panteras are painted in a two tone grey camo. The Elta pod you show is mounted in a Pantera, not al Elkan.
