I read recently in Aircraft Illustrated that the Chileans are having problems to integrate the derby in their F-5s. Let´s see if they can workout on that.

What kind of problems A-29??

As far as I know, Derby BVR missile has been successfully integrated to almost the entire Chilean F-5E Tigre III fleet since early 2002, and several test launches have been performed with great success.

Perhaps you can reproduce the text of that magazine please?

A-29; You’re probably not far off with your Cheetah comment. It is probably the same Israeli mods used on the Cheetah E. [b]Especially since Chile has bought a number of Cheetah E’s to use as spares for the Pantera[b]. 😉

Hmmm…that rumor again 🙂
Anyway..those “spare parts” should be used for already converted aircraft, not to convert any additional machine.

If i´m not wrong the jet number 514 was the first one to upgrade as Pantera and the photo should be somewhere in the middle of the upgrade. Can anyone confirm that?

It was A-29. Mirage 50C Nº514 was the Pantera prototype.

Brade, the “classic” Mirage 50 doesn’t have canards and refuel probe 😮

Not IFR probe, but canards. Take a look. Perhaps you didn’t se this pic before 😉

This is not a Pantera. It’s a Mirage 50C with canards and vortex generators, but still no IFR probe, and no long Pantera’s nose yet. We can call it an hybrid…a transition aircraft between the two versions.

In the above in flight picture of FAP Mirage 2000s and a Chilean M50 (not yet fully converted to Pantera standard), note also the lack of Kfir style vortex generators in the nose ot the missing nose extension tubular plug (~50cms). Maybe I’m wrong…but I can’t distinguish some special features of the Pantera in that pic…althought the camouflage style is definitely not the one in M50Cs and 50FCs…(check the white numbers, not in the air intake sides, but in the rear fuselage)

Check the fourth plane…in the rear!

Note the Chilean Mirage is not a Pantera yet (it’s 1994), but a classic Mirage 50 (soon would be converted, though)

The pod mounted in Pantera 501 is the IAI Elta EL-8212, for self-protection and jamming.

i dont hate chileans, but “arrogant people” wherever they come from are to be treated as such…remember that.

Me too. And I think we both did/had the same kind of attitude.
But is well known most of peruvians are teached to hate chileans from primary school…and thats a shame (same sh*t with Bolivians..).
War is past. Just history books. We should all learn from that.
If you don’t believe me…read what other foreigner people felt after visiting Chile and Perú, in this topic, earlier.
You’ll see the difference about chileean people talking about Perú, and peruvians talking about Chile…

‘ll give you more, where i live i know more chileans than peruvians and my best friends happen to be my chilean friends (few arrogant exemptions), we have shared our tables and few wines and tons of good music

Naaw…not really Flex.
It’s I just dont like to read/hear my that country is bashed by the ignorance or bad intentions of some people. Just that. I guess you would react exactly that way I do if you feel the same… Showing the people the truth…

You would like to hear acknowledgements regarding your country but it surely ain’t gonna work the way you do.

I just want to clarify some biased “thoughts” and wrong statements about Chile and its Air Force, to contribute to the knowledge of other members of this forum. They’re free to read/believe what I’m writing…

Either the people do acknowledge Chile having strong military or they don’t, your pushing, forcing and yelling won’t help much here…

I have never yelled, forced or pushed anyone…
But I do strongly believe that information (real data, not BS) is a key factor to have a minimum knowledge on a particular subject like this one. Otherwise, you would be just speculating when talking about a specific issue…

BTW, I don’t and there is nothing you have provided yet on the contrary.. In this case I like Camaro’s and A-29’s attitude a whole lot better..

That’s fine by me. No problem. Every human being is entitled to have they’re own choices and ideas. Some call it “freedom of thought”…

According to an article (published in 2001) of an specialized magazine here in Brazil, named Força Aérea (Air Force), “….on the first two weeks of the month of December 1980, four FAB F-5Es and a KC-130H went to Chile to demonstrate and teach AAR procedures to Chilean AF officials”. The article is about the 25th anniversary, at that time, of the AAR in Brazil (the first one took place in 1976).

At that time Chile has NOTHING that could refuel in the air. No tankers, no planes with probes…
You were wrong when you talked about brazilian training chilean pilots on IFR skills in the 70s, or afterwards…
A one-time demonstration is far from being a training program.

Hey Camaro…you’re starting to sound like a scratched record… WAR, DEFEAT, WAR, DEFEAT, HATE CHILE, and so on…

Stop reading cheap peruvian press and thinking about war between Chile and Peru.

I think the future is integration, not aggression.

It’s true the majority of peruvians (you are one of them, as it seems) don’t agree with that, but Chileans do believe it…and they’re not thinking on defeating Peru again. War is past.

Turn the page man…
