well its going to happen sooner or later..
India’s new top mid weight fighter against Pakistan’s and PLAAF’s top mid weight :diablo:
meteor(if added) and small RCS makes all the difference..
B52+ without BVR is like a viper without teeths.
PLAAF:s BVR, radar and RCS anyone?
any news of whats in the offer?
Weapons?
engine updates?
onboard system updates? except AESA?
How about TOT?
Is it last assemly only?
or which subsystems is part of TOT?
Where is Scooter?
Wasn’t he predicting the choice of Rafale/Typhoon was just a ploy to make the US lower Superhornet price?
he´s priceless, literally 😀
First, how many platforms can india manage?
The extra 80 would in my opinion be:
1. More Rafales (other bidders are there to lower the price)
2. F-35A or Gripen NG (single engine)
F-35 for internal weapons, new capabilites, Gripen for lighter fighter and better logistics and price (use F414 and can use Micas,Meteor,Spice, IRST. etc.)
Tiffy is too dam close to Rafale in size, i dont see any point.
the USAF is cancelling the Global Hawk block 30, in favour of the U-2
– how do the two aircraft compare in terms of cost, performance, sensor suite?
– considering the history of losing U-2’s to air defences, is it viable to risk a human life on such dangerous and vital missions in a time of UAVs?
– can we expect upgrades for the U-2, ranging from new sensors, computers to an unmanned uption? how much would that cost?
– should the ideas for in-air refueling and carrier compatibility be revisited? especially if made unmanned, this would greatly increase the U-2 capabilities
is the U-2 a USAF attempt to hang onto high flying manned experience until the 6th generation space/aircraft arrive?
Isn´t this only a diversion for a skunkproject takeover? Is the datalinks not good or safe enough for UAV operation any more?
Congrats Dassault and France!
You see, Tiffy and Gripen fans arent so bad loosers as the other ones 😉
Most voters are against any new fighter aircraft. But if Dassault manages to create a tendency against Gripen, even in those circles who support a new fighter, the likelihood of a cancellation increases. Which means sooner or later there will be an new evaluation process. At that time it is possible that Typhoon and Gripen are no longer in production.
and rafale is only produced in india, like the volkswagen in mexico…
hopefully the french will leave swiss AF alone now 😀
“According to Saab-led Gripen International, more than 10,000 new jobs have been created in Hungary as a result of a Swedish offset commitment worth 110% of the value of the nation’s original 10-year deal.”
the biggest holder of SAAB technology, Investor holding company moved big investments to the country. For example a electrolux factory amongst other things.
if the gripen E/F wasn’t there it’s beacause it doesn’t even exist (yet at least)
now, how an aircraft that doesn’t exist can “fit your requirements”? already the expected capabilities were lesser than the other two, and that’s for capabilities that you expect (or hope for if you prefer)
well, if i need:
10 stations check!
at least a AA combat radius of 1300km check
HMD check
thust to weight over 0,97 check
All these requirements fits both fighters. So you go buy the cheapest.
easy enough?
well, first, the F-5 is a twin engine aircraft,
second: the replacement in less than a decade they’ll need to buy replacements for their hornets, which means they’ll probably want to use the same type to simplify and optimize maintainance and overall costs
result, buying the gripen may sound logical with inly the F-5 replacement in mind, but in longer term it means going a step down in capabilities as in their own evgaluation the gripen was behind the hornet and managed the minimum passable overall grade only thanks to its price
considering the support of gripen: I said that just about everybody was against it. some because they don’t want money spent on any fighter, others that don’t want to buy a fighter that came out dead last in evaluations
first, E/F gripen was not in those eval.
second Technical evaluations have nothing to do with requirements. When you buy something, you by the cheapest that fits your requirements nothing more nothing less.
ps. F-5 is have to engines, but thats not apropiate for a such a small fighter today.
the swiss evaluation was a real good one in my eyes until the revield the winner 🙂
first i thought the budgetcuts would make the day, so the cheapest in all aspects would probably fit the public. Then it turned to a mutiny, to by more expensive system? in all aspects, lifecycle, buy and TOT? 😀
simply because you don’t govern a country by being emotive, but by looking for your best interest, and getting the best aircraft at the best price is your best interest… what’s more, the gripen as such is highly contested by more or less everybody in switzerland (except Ulli Maurer and his gonvernment and SAAB of course) so, even poiticaly they can use that to delay an unpopular process and maybe get an even better deal than previous one
well thats your opinion…
now, how would that be, if every govement buy is a public prestige demokratic vote, with no interest in real requirements or TOT aspects (only driven throu media simplication) or budget restricitons. if so, i think we would have the greece krisis in all democratic stats all over the world
Given that one of the above nations is de facto insolvent and two others are staring into the economic abyss, bringing India on board as a partner for nEUROn not only makes financial sense for the Royale house of Dassault but would probably sway the MMRCA deal for the Rafale…..and that coming from a Typhoon supporter!
Neuron is a financed project and soon finished…Dassault have nothing special to give in this matter except tha France payed half of the budget, and Dassault became the lead contractor. Dassault does not have the ownership of this project. Europes goverments does, and all the rest of europes defence industry have big parts. (Saab 25%, EADS 22%)
The next project is another matter. Finanicing future fighters tricky question…
you mean apart from UAE and Brazil?
Greece may be a prospect in the longer term, if it’s economy emerges from the doldrums. Malaysia is a prospect but it orders very small numbers and the Rafale may be too expensive for them.
Appart from the obius India, Brazil or UAE. I mean what happen to Rafale, if it looses those three? Exept that france struggle on..?
Who else have a bigger budget and needs something in this neabourhood before 2025?
I dont think Greece will buy anything this expensive in this timespan. The blackhole in its economy have never been seen on this side of the moon.
Malaysia is to small order for a Rafale system, but who knows?
Korea?
Old mirage customer?
what is the future prospects of Rafale?
any bigger AF with good funds? who i viable?
