All I have is cn 15895/32643. Originally USAAF 44-76311. With the Mediterranean Allied Air Force 1945-48. Last owner/operator shown as Foreign Liquidation Commission. WFU 14/01/1948.
Thanks for the heads-up! 11093 was the RCAF registration – I think the serial/construction no. is CV 435.
Excellent! Many thanks for the heads-up.
“
You are obviously not a pilot”
Wrong again Mike – over 30 years under combat conditions – crosswinds confused with crossed wires! Get a sense-of-humour transplant!
Brian,
Many thanks for the usual impeccable photos, but what were the Catalina pilots smoking? The Dutch pilots of PH-PBY could teach them a thing or two about landing! ( post 1521)
I didn’t mean to infer an ‘official permit’ was neccesary – rather a moral obligation to respect the original conditions. I apologise if you are unable to understand my inadequate grasp of the English language.
Hi Steve.
I have no details of the photo, but it’s been in the public domain for some time. 55S was a training squadron. specialising in multi-engine conversion. They were based at Port Liautey from 1948-50. Then at Agadir from 1950-61. I should guess the photo was taken at Agadir, ca 1950.
Collis – LP704 was ‘Armée de l’Air’ (French Air Force)
Have a look here for an Aéronavale Wellington.

and here’s HZ891 at Agadir ca 1945
Interesting that the Argonaut image is of G-ALHI .
G-ALHI served with the Royal Rhodesian Air Force as 182, (along with 3 other ex-BOAC C4s) from 1960-64.
Many thanks for the great pics!
I think that should read “Biafran”.
Jack is held in very high esteem for all he did for Rhodesia.

I don’t know about Bayeux, but could you be thinking of this replica at ‘Memorial de la Paix’, in Caen? It reputedly contains some original parts.

“We’ve got lots of them too!”

You cheeky b*gg*rs! My Defender 110 will outpace any slant-eyed towing vehicle, and at least keep up with most Discoveries! Stick to Spitfires:)
Beautiful work SS – well done!
