No, she flew an air test on the 11th and then I saw her up again on the 14th.

Not a very good shot as she was quite high and going away from me but this is her over Woodhall Spa returning to Coningsby about 12:10 today after the air test.

Currently can here what sounds like the MkXIX doing an air test just north of me but haven’t been able to get a view of it yet.

    Spitfire MJ627

Thank you for the message Martin hope to see my favoritre spitfire next year.

    James

Spitfire MJ627 is currently residing in the BBMF hanger at Coningsby where The Major is working on it from time to time.

Word on the street is that it is not going back to East Kirkby after the winter service and a new base is being sought for it.

My logbooks have finally reappeared from the loft where they were stored in a box marked “Xmas decorations!” In answer to relightflyn9 I flew XS177 a number of times in the 1973 season including
Biggin Hill on the 19 May
    Cambrai on the 20 May.
    Dyce 26 May
    Schaffen 27 May
    Schleswig 8 June
    Schaffoldendorf 8 June
What state is the a/c in now and where is it ?

She is looking rather sorry for herself ATM. She is being used for spares recovery
for XS186. Unfortunately she got blown off the stand in a mini typhoon that passed through one morning in late September, the only casualty was a vole living inside.
On a brighter note a part of her will be airborne again soon in the illustrious company of the BBMF.
I am sure Paul will be in touch with you soon.

Glad it turned out to be wildly inaccurate, but I do wish they’d hung onto the Javelin too.

    Moggy

    Seconded, on both counts.

Unfortunatly Woodall Spa seems to be going through the same yob culture as a vast majority of British villages are expeariencing. I know Woodall very well having spent at least a week in the village for the last 14 years and I know that Woodall people are very proud of their assossiation with 617 Sqn and indeed the squadrons memorial. This act of vandalism needs nipping in the bud now and I hope that the community of Woodall Spa and Lincolnshire Constabulary act swiftly to stop this happening again.

    Horrified and Disgusted Spadegrip. 🙁

Perhaps a couple of manned gun emplacements at either end of the memorial would be more effective and make it look more realistic.

Anyone know what the yak was at Conningsby? I’m being nosey again 😉 😀

Sorry about the horrible quality lol my camera ran out of batteries so I only managed one quick snap before it died.

Really enjoyed watching the 4 Tiger Moths though (G-APMX, G-AGEG, G-APAM, G-BEWM), and the spitfire display was very nice 🙂

I think you will find it was a YAK11 (G-KYAK).
There were some visitors to the BBMF and they laid on a great Typhoon display at about 14:30. I think the Tigers were giving rides to the visitors. They were taking off in convoy for about a 20 minute tour of the neighbourhood.

That is a shame. It was supposed to be AB910 for the Polish veterans.

AB910 was displaying in the Channel Islands with Hurricane PZ and the Dak. The fighters arrived back at Coningsby about 11:00 today.

    Heritage open days

not 100% sure but i think the Lanc will be flying over most of these events . plus wickenby and a few more . i did only glance at some Notams yesterday
so dont take it as gospel.

Red Arrows passed over Metheringham airfield today, presume on their way to Duxford. Not on the direct route so could have been a flypast. Saw them later to the south returning to Scampton.
