Being based in Glasgow am rather limited, but will def be going to:

Festival of Flight (East Fortune), Leuchars
and make a long weekend in Sept for Duxford and Shuttleworth.

Might also head down to Sunderland for their free show in July

Good idea, could add

Sunderland (based at many locations for coastal recco)

Hunter (first entered service at Leuchars)

Lightning (Leuchars again)

SA Bulldog (Prestwick connection)

and the location would have to be west coast, lots of spare space at Prestwick. Much as I like East Fortune, it is the wrong side of Edinburgh 🙂

browsing the net today for some other info I tripped over the following site: http://www.ukserials.fsnet.co.uk/
which may answer some of your questions.

Can anyone tell me what typeface is used to apply the serial number to the airframe? the ukserials site just mentions ‘a specific font’. reason I ask is I am getting back to plastic modelling after many years and have discovered that there is decal film to make your own transfers on both laser and inket printers.

didn’t notice the drip tray, but then again I don’t look at the ground when I see a lightning, too busy stopping my jaw dropping too far!!

Not sure about the metalic paint scheme, but possibly tis better than leaving unprotected aluminium. At least she is getting some tlc. But the grey radome is a bit too much.

I agree with your view. If for one day in the year some kids (of all ages) get some hands on experience of an aircraft and gain an interest in aviation, then it is worth all the barriers. There are other chances to get photos without the barriers, there aren’t many chances to sit in a Phantom.

here’s a couple of shots of XV582 that I took on Saturday. She was being used all day for photos of kids in the cockpit, hence the platform.
