I believe that the engine is the hold up, and may not even been started yet??? π π
The rest of the airframe and systems are probably near complete. π π

Stirling, Bristol Hercules–Oh no we’re back to sleeve valves again.
I suppose they could put four 3350’s into it.
Do you think anyone would notice?π π π π π
Yes……………………..but not if they were R2600s 3350 with only 14 cylinders and Hamilton props No one would know
The only place in the world that brews 115/145 is Eslmere Port IIRC. This is a turn around from WWII when all high PN fuel came from the USA. I am sure it will be available for some time. There are replacements available but if what I have read is correct 100LL is not quite as good as its Lead based equivalent at the rich mixture rating. Also some of the replacement additives can have detrimental effects at prolonged high power outputs.
For the record, I am a Sea Fury fan, no matter what the powerplant.
Steve
And so am I. The beauty with fitting a 3350 is that in the air the Seafury looks the same and probably sounds not too dissimilar as well. It just has a blade missing. (on the ground) Now the really tricky part is finding a replacement for a Sabre so that we could get a Tempest V up in the air. I’m not sure that the one in Booker will ever make it into the air unless there is some so far unannounced cache of engines quietly being worked on. :diablo: π π
Not my bag, but good fun.

Nice photos Septic, anyone know if the Fury and Hawk made it down?
Thanks for the picture Papa Lima. The A model seemed to be better proportion than the stretched B’s
Has anyone got pictures of a C141A with the short fuselage? I first saw one in Jan 1966 at the opening of Auckland airport in NZ. As a mere wisp of a lad it was the largest thing I had ever seen, and the short take-off and climb-out is still etched in the memory banks. π π π
Compaired to the number of DB605’s around me thinks the number of Sabreβs surviving as a percent age of production will be quite high
The weekend is suddenly looking better π π π
Now where is that map of south London. Any one know the best way into Biggin these days??? π π π
The aircraft, in the hands of Cdr Dave MacKay, flew for 1 hr 20 mins and flew several times yesterday in preparation for a planned low-key display at this weekend’s Yeovilton Air Day.
Mark
I take it this means that they will not be at Biggin Hill π But well done for finally getting them back into the air π π π
Great news Fingers crossed she can get to Biggin Hill.
