P 38 can look so odd from some angles
Few more from this show
Bet some of those “Reno Merlins” have Allison Con-Rods in them. Merlin advantage = Stanley Hooker and his superchargers. The Merlin got total focus the Allison did not.
My scanner is an EPSON perfection 3200 PHOTO. It’s a flat bed with all the bits and pieces to do slides and film strips at high quality. My slides seem to come out better than negative film, but I’m sure that’s down to the film and not the scanner.
Normal flatbeds are not much good and some of the dedicated film scanners are too expensive. I was lucky and found an old style photo shop that scanned a slide for me on various scanners then printed it out. I basically made the choice of this scanner based on the quality and paid about a fiver more for the scanner than I would have at PC World etc. Well worth it for the service and quality advice
I could not detect much different with the dedicated scanner other than slightly better colour in the deep shadows. This would be important to a professional but not worth paying 2 to 3 times the price.
Thanks all, I will now go off and rename 50 odd photo’s O how I love Computers
Last for tonight, I have always found it difficult to photograph aircraft at Duxford in strong sunshine as we are on the North side of the Field. This was worse when using transparency film. Hence no decent shots of the flying.
I remember waiting to see both 109’s fly together, but we saw them take off together, then Black 6 went off to another show, and I seem to recall black 2 landing back with some form of engine problem. Mark was flying it at altitude and I was watching and waiting when he put the undercarriage down and came strait back in. This is touch down. Perfect precision. The prop was turning very slowly in coarse pitch.
Stringbag, you could be right, because I was at the 95 show. Some more photo’s
Fury Last one for now, anyone want to see some more?

Another one
Yes please, I’d love to see it
What fascinates me is how an experienced pilot can fly the same routine without incident in the same aircraft for a season or several seasons and then one day it goes horribly wrong.
Correct me if I’m wrong but was it not Bill’s first public display in the Firefly. He may not have much more than a few hours on type. I think he had flown the Swordfish for a number of seasons.
