Sorry for going off topic, but does anyone think the guy spraying the water got his butt chewed out after soaking the cockpit of the F-15E? LOL

This whole sorry saga raises another issue, as much as these people should never have been given mortgages they should also have known themselves that they were not endeavoring on a safe undertaking…..a flaw in the education system perhaps?
No, not our much heralded public education system, how dare you question its abilities to learn dem youngins. :diablo:

Lets not forget that a lot of people that are loosing homes should have never been able to get a mortgage for them in the first place. I know of 5 people alone who, without the use of “creative financing”, would have never gotten a mortgage. Hell, I thought about buying a house and would of had to really stretch (meaning, I really couldn’t do it rationally) but I decided not to, since it was too risky. Big mistake by me, I’d probably be getting bailed out soon enough.
Now one could argue this was all a plan by the rich to foreclose on these homes, but remember, Banks would not lend extravagant amounts of money out unless they new they would be paid back, by either the borrower or the government. Hmmmm, is this starting to add up to anyone?
When it comes to economics, trickle down works, trickle up just doesn’t work sorry to say. On the same token though, trickle down economics without any sense of morals or ethics will kill itself, which we have seen a lot of. The system isn’t flawed, the people are. I for one don’t care if someone makes hundreds of millions or billions. Is Warren Buffet gonna hand over all his money? After all, he has said countless times he doesn’t need it all.
What we need is a government that works for everyone, rich, middle and poor. A government that treats everyone all the same, no special perks for the rich or the poor. (Notice I left the middle class out, we tend to be forgotten when it comes to “perks”).
We need a government that is pro-business and pro-trade, time after time it has been shown throughout history that isolationist economies do not work. We need a government that is pro-growth in order to make up for lost jobs due to a changing economy.
But at the same time we need a government that convicts all crime, whether its white collar or blue collar. I ask anyone this, since the home foreclosure market has been brought up. Why isn’t anyone from Freddie or Fannie being investigated? Is the sup-prime mess not the main reason, the match, that got this whole mess we’re in now started? HM, one doesn’t have to investigate to deeply to figure out why.
Meanwhile, I would not be surprised if certain rights pertaining to me, specifically the 1st and 2nd amendment, slowly become whittled away. At this point I don’t have time time to get into it and why, but looking at the tack record of those in power now, I can only come to one logical conclusion. And it’s not one that I like

Listen, if it works for one of our allies, as long as it isn’t some sort of heavy handed regime, I don’t have a problem with it. If someone wants to pay high taxes etc etc, well thats fine with me, I just don’t want too. I think government mandated anything is mostly a joke, but thats just my opinion.
Americans, well America in general, is very different from Europe, which has been documented well over the years. Like I said in an earlier post, there are many many Americans who distrust government, and never will trust it. We look at it as a limiting factor, not something to do good. Mind, I know they can do somethings well, but most things are screwed up in the bureaucratic process. Also, there is a large percentage of people in this country that believe they are owed something, if not everything. There are also people who believe the government can pay for everything, and that they should. Honestly, it is an education problem, and until people learn what is really going on they’ll be happy to be led like sheep, until it hurts them. And then they will get very upset, but not until it hurts them. As someone once said, “Ignorance is out most expensive commodity.”
Look up Alexis de Tocqueville, he really did a bang up job as far as I’m concerned on the differences between us and our long lost cousins, and why they occured.

Just a few quick notes:
1) Just to clear something up about Obama being a “terrorist”. This term was used because of a connection to a known domestic terrorist from the 60s, nothing to do with OBL or anything. And yes, when this Bill Ayers guy did these things, Obama was only 8, we were concerned with recent connections between to two men, let alone his preacher, the CEO of either Freddie or Fannie, some guy Rezco who currently is up on a host of charges, let alone his dealings oversease.
2) Obama did not win in a landslide, the last landslide to occur was 1984, Reagan got 538 electoral votes and 60% of the popular vote.
3) While I hope Obama realizes the only way he can fix anything is to govern as a “centrist”, with the majoritys in congress going to the Dems and quite frankly Obama’s track record, I highly doubt this will indeed happen. Luckily, the Senate is not “philabuster proof” so the Republicans still have some control over what happens. Question is, will they have the cajones?

Well all I can say is, I’m done bbq’in some chicken and it was dam good. Now I’m on my way to getting, “ahemmm”, inebriated and listening to my Led Zepplin box album, since I lost the BBC Sessions. But, I did my part and voted first thing this morning, and quite frankly, I don’t feel like giving any of the news guys any ratings points.
Cheers everyone

The USA, along with all industrialized democracies already does this to some degree. It is the “progressive’ tax system. Richer people of means generally pay higher income taxes than poorer people do, all things being equal. That by definition is income redistribution.
I know, as I said I know most people lump taxes into this redistribution. However, as I was trying to point out, the way Obama is speaking, this money will go directly to certain people, not the nation as a whole. I don’t like taxes, I’m American, and as someone once said on this forum, tax evasion is out national pastime lol. But I do understand that they are a necessary evil.
However, we obviously have things that need to be payed for now, let alone other necessary things. We do not need new programs in order to “help” people. As has been shown in this country, the majority of these programs never end, for the people become dependents of the state. Thats part of my personal problem with this whole cockamamie idea of taking from the rich to help the poor. Also, who determines whose rich, and who will be entitled to these proceeds that have been taken/stolen? I ain’t rich, but I know I won’t get a penny, ok, maybe a few. Problem is, my customers may be considered rich, if they don’t have their disposable income, how are they going to pay me? So who knows, I may be getting screwed 3 or 4 times.
I think my previous post explains my position the best, I just felt like I had to reply again, sorry for taking up so much space on the forum, I don’t like to feel like I’m the only one talking and no ones listening lol :p
