Thanks for all that – actually met to type Spitfire V – brain storm
The reason it was thought Spitfire was;-
1) the blade root cuff
2) where it was found – although appreciated that with channel currents it could have come down anywhere and had 60+ years to get where it was found.
3) The jablo wooden blades (id by my father – id never heard of jablo until then)
unfortunately there are no serial numbers on it – or if there are they cant be found.
with regard to the e bay advert – twas not i that said £500=00 ono – dont know where the duxford bit came from – believe that the raf museum at hendon was contacted at some stage.
I tried finding some pictures of the rotol props and pitch chang/constant speed mechanisms but all the ones easily found had what appears to be a motor can or similar sat over the front of the prop.
did all the other a/c mentioned ie tempest with centaurus, firebradn buckinghamd and warwick have the jablo blades ???.
