Martyn, I know that you have a copy of this but this attachment may help others with a F106 stick
Yes a very uninspiring aircraft hence the name it acquired of ‘flying pig’. Nice yoke though from a long lost ‘pedigree’ aircraft manufacturer Vickers.
Me too, sounds good.
Yes superb Viscount website, and if memory serves me well Air Britain did a great publication as well on the Viscount.
Thanks for the reply
Are BA also thinking of doing a BEA scheme on one of their aircraft?
Great items Dade, love the Beaufighter yoke, I need a break lever locking mechanism for mine. Thanks for sharing the photos, B24 Panel is super!
MJ627 – Always! Every yoke or grip has a story to tell. Where possible I always try to acquire the serial or registration number of the aircraft which the yoke was removed from. After some research on the net, quite often you can discover some interesting history or feats of airmanship of said aircraft. Personally I like the fact of the history accompanying such an item.
SWIFTER – As always nice collection, especially with the tail of your fathers aircraft, glad your TU22 finally arrived after much frustration with the postal services!
Visotka1 – fantastic collection you have and very well displayed, almost a private museum, well done!
Must admit Pprune ‘What Cockpit’ is one of the best resource tools I have come across for identifying yokes and sticks especially for the more obscure types. It’s a cracking thread but as you have probably discovered some of the cockpit photos no longer open. Still good to use though..
There seems to be quite a few of these generic pilot / propeller figures on the internet mainly having been sold by auction houses, although obviously yours has a bespoke inscription to a Fairey employee. These figures are described as being produced in the ‘inter war’ years, another states 1930’s. Hope this helps date your item at least.
