Something old and something new, a couple of Soviet acquisitions from the Ilyushin stables. The first one has been on eBay for quite some time billed as a Li-2 but in fact is what I believe to be a Il-12, this being one of Ilyushin’s first passenger airliners. The second one is a Il-86 one of the last airliners Ilyushin built the Il-96 superceeding this type.
A ridiculously expensive Il-86 yoke on eBay at the moment:

A video clip of an impressive IL-86 takeoff on a small runway (Tivat airfield), see last few seconds:

Sad to see so many airshows and events falling by the wayside in recent years.
For those of you who like Soviet cold war aircraft this is a rarely seen item on the market although a tad expensive. It’s a Myasishchev M4 Altant control yoke:
The existence and preservation of most Russian yokes is due to the fact that they were presented to military Pilots on retirement, quite often they were jazzed up commonly with a clock wedged into the yoke hub and bits and bobs dangling off the wheel like a Christmas tree. The removal of the clock, compass and lowering of the price would make this quite a nice acquisition to ones collection. I would be asking for further photos around the hub area to make sure it wasn’t stressed or fractured through the insertion of the clock.
Another B-47 Stratojet yoke for sale:
GYD,
Thanks for the update on the Spade Grip. Yes the Tiger Moth column has been on sale for some time, I too am surprised as well that it hasn’t sold.
DC3 yoke, poor condition but cheapish:

Interesting T- Shirts !
Is there any update on the fate of Safdarjang? . I remember some years back driving through a highway in Delhi and coming across this Art Deco airfield. Without knowing anything further sounds like it may become like Croydon airport, just a building in the middle of an industrial estate.
Interesting, and what a fantastic barn that’s trapped in a time warp, I prefer aircraft in their natural state and unrestored, thanks for the link.

Thanks for the picture a good example of a VC-10 yoke which you have acquired Martyn.
Nick a good replica example of Vickers hub cap, well done on its creation
Ian there are about half a dozen or so stalls at Bruntingthorpe although it seems to grow as each year goes by. Generally selling aviation memorabilia such as models, books, clothes etc although a couple of stalls will have aerojumble items. The best stall has to be the burger van! Anyhow well worth a trip down on their open days if you haven’t been before. There is quite a bit to do and explore at the airfield aside from the activity on the runway.
Martyn,
As you are probably aware the caps are generally more elusive than the control wheels themselves, A discussion on yoke hub caps was covered on this thread some months back. Congratulations on the acquisition of the VC-10 yoke at cockpitfest, a good find. A few months back three to four examples of VC10 yokes appeared on eBay all with upper columns minus hub cap and PTT switches. They didn’t last long all going within hours or even minutes on ‘buy it now’. Perhaps yours was originally one of these ? Did the seller have any history to your yoke such as the aircraft it was removed from? There was a chap on eBay a while back selling replica Vickers VC10 hub caps, I haven’t seen him advertise for a while although I did notice that he had a stall at Bruntingthorpe last year and was selling these replicas.
