Managed to secure this column and wheel from a fellow forum member recently, been after one of these for a long time. RNZAF B170 freighter.
Nice one, keep it up down there !
No need to spend time worrying about the demise of air shows, it’s already happened as a result of this, I would be interested to know how many air shows have been cancelled this year so far.
I think it was BOAC startocruisers from nearby RAF / USAF Burtonwood
Passengers being bused from Manchester, cannot remember the exact reason why but I have seen a thread in this in the past.
I was quite pleased with what I came away with these being an Andover Yoke, Propeller hub and a nice large reference book on the Sud-Est Caravelle. I must say not as many stalls as I’ve seen there before in the past but in the mix were quite a few quality stores which in turn is much better than quantity. The museum were selling some surplus bits a pieces from the Comet 2 which they recently acquired. As usual most of the museums cockpits were open for inspection and available for sitting inside. Similar to visits in previous years I was left with the impression that this was more of a buyers market as opposed to a sellers market as there didn’t seem to be a lot of customers, I would be interested to read any thoughts from the stall holders. The sun shone for this event, great location on an active airfield coupled with the museum and friendly staff. Great breakfast at the airfield cafe ! All in all it was worth the 200 mile round trip! As far as aerojumbles go all I can say is use it (if you can) or lose it!
Thankyou to the event organisers !
Similar to a point Gokone has made, I do believe an aerojumble event which would allow collectors/buyers to turn up ad hoc and having paid a small fee allow people to sell odd pieces from their car boot would not only encourage more people to attend and sell (who normally wouldn’t) but also put new stock into the market. The success of this (over time) would encourage more buyers to attend the event. Most people will have a few aviation related items to sell but not enough to warrant paying Multiple £££’s for a pitch.
There are a couple of spade grips in the latest Dominic Winters aviation auction notably from a Westland Wapati lot 805 and also a turret

Ebay currently has a B24 liberator yoke for sale
And no doubt you’ve all spotted the Shorts Sunderland yoke
Couldn’t have put it better myself, well said Mr Scotavia !
Now the thread has been started and the appetite wetted just link in the auction details here in order to successfully complete this thread. Name of the game is to find good homes for these items!

The Turkish DC10 heading for London Heathrow crashed near Paris in 1974, cargo door not shut properly, resulting in an explosive decompression, farmers came across 6 passengers still strapped to their seats in fields 9 miles away from the crash site. This crash was a watershed moment for the aviation industry as it was the first wide body crash with mass fatalities, 346 people in total died. Sad day for all.

Nice work Nick, a worthy addition to your collection. Interesting to know the differences between the B50 and B29 yokes. Also nice Nordatlas yoke GYD, the French always had an interesting flair in their aviation designs. Despite a once healthy aviation industry I don’t see much of their memorabilia stuff about even in frequent visits to France.
Thanks for sharing that moment in history, I wasn’t aware of this particular crash.
As stated LCY is one of the last remaining hubs to fly in a Avro 146. The added attraction is the landing over the city is quite unique. You should be able to get day return flights or overnighters. Be quick as a lot of the airlines are and also steadily going to change to the new generation jets which obviously provide better economics. The 146 days will be numbered!
The Brooklands museum Retrojumble will be held on Sunday 24th July 2016 this year. This includes aero jumble as well as auto jumble etc. Not normally the best aerjumble on the calendar but still worth giving it a plug as the finding of one elusive item on a stall can always make it worth while. It’s a nice setting and The museum is good for a visit too!
