You see obscure Nimrod parts on eBay at unbelievable prices ££££, seriously how are these prices ever going to be achieved??? Who has a Nimrod aircraft to fit these too!!! Where is the market for this prices?
Bruce, you will need to clear your private message storage capacity which has reached its max. No one can send you msgs Thanks
Thanks for the time taken in your answer Twin Otter, as always very helpful. Sounds like your system is caught up in quite a bit of bureaucracy. Shame that it affects swap meets with collectors but I understand that at the end of the day you are trying to safeguard people.
Hello Twin Otter what are these sale regulations that could stop you from accepting sellers who turn up impromptu? Are these seller regulations enforced nationwide? Could such an impromptu seller not show you a photo ID such as a driving licence at the gate to validate who they are? Out of interest if a seller pre books for an aerojumble stall what additional checks do you carry out on them to verify who they say they are? This is not a critism, obviously you as a museum are allowed to choose who you wish but I will be interested in what checks you carry out beyond the ‘face value’ application form to comply with the ‘seller regulations’ Many Thanks.
(PS all I am trying to establish is why there would be obstacles in some turning up last minute and selling items from their car boot providing they paid the necessary fees to the organisers)
These I think we’re people with pre booked outside pitches who normally set up stall at the back of their cars, as opposed to just turning up on the day with no previous booking. I stand to be corrected on this….
The ability to turn up ad hoc, have a look around and then have the opportunity to sell bits and pieces out of your own car boot (by payment obviously but without prior reservation) in order to make a few bob for the admission and petrol which is spent traveling. People are able to turn up ad hoc and sell at Sunday morning Car boots why not at aero jumbles? This in turn means the possibility of more people attending, more items being sold which in turn generates more people through the gates. Perpetuating circle! The passive seller from the car boot (not the usual dealers) will hopefully have fresh stock to introduce into the aerobillia pool. On a side note I think militaria dealers and sellers can also compliment an aerojumble. Why not also advertise aero jumble events to these pool of sellers?
Thanks for the photos. Yes as you initially stated its a Varsity.
If you are looking for something WWII (ish) try the aviation warehouse based in America on this link: http://aviationwarehouse.net/aviation-collectables.html
On the tab for aviation collectables they have DC3 wheels for sale at $300 which is the equivalent of £200. Plus quite a few fighter grips at $200 (£130). Never purchased from these guys before however I have spoken to them on the phone to check their latest stocks, sometimes you have to throw your net far and wide!
Hi all,
Would anyone have an idea what a Vickers Varsity control yoke would be worth these days, it has know history, but is in nice condition.
Many thanks as always..
Quite often Vickers Valetta Yokes get confused with Vickers Varsity yokes. Do you know the difference? Both are quite similar but do have noticeable differences. Regardless both yokes are very nice and a good reminder of the piston era shortly before the dawn of the jet age. On the 6th sept 2015 a Vickers Varsity yoke sold on eBay for £206 (17bids). In fact it was advertised wrongly and was actually a Vickers Valetta yoke! From monitoring previous Varsity prices, a good condition one will fetch (low to high range) £175 to £250. Hope this helps, certainly a nice example to have in ones collection. Good luck.
Submarines and hovercraft do have similar steering yokes to aircraft, but how similar I’m not entirely sure. A search on ‘submarine steering wheel’ on google images does provide a variety of examples.
Final price for the Anson yoke was 571 euros approx £423.
Anson yokes are advertised now and again on eBay so not too difficult to acquire, normally in the £150-£250 bracket. What is hard to find though is one with a gun button which will raise the price up quite a bit.
I believe the gun buttons on these are much larger than the standard grip button.
There is a suggestion in the news today that some of the Russian cruise missiles have fallen short of their targets.

Not sure what happened to my link but follow these steps and it should take you to the relevant ‘for sale’ pages.
1) Click on my link in the above message.
2) click on the German flag located top right corner
3) Click on the word Flugzeugteile (top left corner)
This now takes you to the for sale section and you can scroll through the page numbers found at the bottom left of the page.
Hope this works…
