Nice find Nick, moments like this make all the hours of searching worthwhile.
Ian, the design is Swedish but the majority of these aircraft eventually ended up in Brazil where they saw out their days. The exact number built escapes me but I think it was less than 20 that were built. The previous owner of this yoke (who I purchased it from) owns the last surviving aircraft although this particular yoke was removed from a different ship some 20-30 years back prior to scrapping
This is my latest acquisition from Brazil. Yoke from a little known airliner. SAAB Scandia, this was Sweden’s entry into the airliner market shortly after the war. Only a small number of ships were built and most ended up serving in Brazil prior to scrapping, this particular example was taken from PP-SQT. Only one ship now survives and again it is languishing in Brazil.
Yes, I have, I will PM you shortly, he supply’s other website outlets so it will be cheaper buying direct from him.
Noted! I have some koi carp for sale, PM if you are interested!
As always in this country we are at the mercy of the weather which can make or break events or plans.
Someone previously had a good idea of having stalls under the Vulcan wings, this could at least provide a couple or a few “dry stalls” with no over head expenses. The photos on post 113 show how dry the area is underneath these wings. Whilst on this theme are the Hastings wings big and wide enough to fit a few more stalls under? Good way to make use of natural cover adding a touch of ambience without any overheads (excuse the pun!)
Thanks for the clarification, see you at the Gate!
What time do the gates open for the aerojumble (early bird) and how much are the EB tickets at the gate? Thanks
Jamba, your JU188 yoke is excellent, certainly in the premier league in the field of yoke collecting.
Hawker 1966 welcome to the slippery road of expanding the collection.
Ian glad to see that you had a good day Old Sarum, sadly had to miss this one but hope to get to Newark.
Attached below is a photo of a recent acquisition from eBay (still enroute) for any airliner fans. No aircraft identity was given but I managed to identify it as the co-pilots yoke from the Il-62, a fine looking aircraft very similar to the Vc-10.
Thankyou for posting these excellent photographs, I look forward to going this year for the first time. Could you please tell us when the tickets come on the market.Thankyou.
Hawker1966. Thanks for your debrief, sounds like you certainly had a worthwhile trip, some great things you came across.
Thanks for posting this, the event looks good with plenty of heavy piston props, anyone been there before and know how you but tickets for the event?
Away from eBay a couple of WWII yokes for sale
Bristol Blenheim: http://www.themilitariadealers.com/shop.php
Airspeed Horsa Glider: http://www.wdmilitaria.co.uk/shop.php
German turret grips: http://www.bombphoons.com/shop.php
I am also in contact with a European dealer who is selling his collection of grips and will post more details for you all once I obtain some photos from him.
This is nice on Stateside but with early vintage aviation it’s hard to distinguish between aviation and automobillia as the two especially early yokes very much interwoven. Any opinions anyone?
Seller also has a Mig 17 stick
