Interesting design looks like something out of Thunderbirds. I looked at pictures of the interior on airliners.net . The lower front deck is the cockpit and the upper front deck is the navigators station.
I hope it is just a hicup, will have to see what the updates bring along.
Thanks for posting the photos, I very much like Russian machines, the Ilyushin 62 was a fine looking aircraft. The cockpit section appears to be a Tupolev 134 but I stand to be corrected.
I’ve been to Brooklands quite a few times, as suggested in previous post it is heavily weighted in favour of motor sports. Has a lot of potential to update and progress the aviation aside, I sincerely hope they do so.
I agree they were a beautiful looking machine and pioneered the under fuselage airstair door which BAC used on the 1-11
DC9 and B727 had them too, Although I appreciate that the Caravelle pioneered this first. Another bit of trivia after the Russian president of the time flew on the Caravelle he liked it so much that he instructed the Russian aviation industry to build a similar type of aircraft. Out of this the TU134 was born.
I Wonder what they would be flying today if they had stuck to not buying new aircraft, and not gone bust???
My money would be on Boeing 757’s
Ahh the Comet, lovely machine, that’s one of the reasons I go to. bruntingthorpe every year to see the Comet do the fast taxy runs. It still lives and breaths albeit in a limited capacity.
Out of curiosity which museum is this and what air experience flights are they operating?
Great pics well done for sharing, yes and more please!
This is from a Vickers Varsity, part of the left side is missing and has been fitted with a plug to make the left arm flush. For a complete Varsity yoke the shape of the left side should replicate the right side (in basic terms).Vickers always made very nice yokes in my opinion.
I miss the whine of those Dart engines! Surely there cannot be many HS748’s still in service? Or perhaps I’m mistaken?
A new yoke to add to the collection (Thanks for the spot Ian) is this Antonov 2 .
Shameful especially as Rememberance Sunday is approaching. Still we must be mindful of their human rights if and when they are arrested.
Thanks for sharing. Always like reading about vintage Russian airliners. Reminds me of a JAL DC8 back in 1968 which landed in San Franisco bay, okay not a river on this occasion but similar to the Hudson River incident all the passengers went on to the wings to await rescue by boat.
