Museum website now updated, last entry into site 1 hour prior to closure and last admission into shop 20 mins before closure. Hopefully this should stop any further misunderstandings and the museum can get back to its excellent work.
Storm in a tea cup. The daily tabloids today had the headlines of “Newarkgate , gift shop closes 10 minutes early”
Anyhow I’m sure that now the problem has been identified the Museum will rectify this and be better for it. Tripadvisor as we all know can be very subjective depending on the individuals personal perspective.
Boeing tyre for sale anyone? At £400 item number 191388095576 Seriously where do people get these prices from?? Would only be suitable if you had a Boeing jet and if you did who is going to buy a used or part worn tyre for their passenger jet on eBay?
Reminds me of all the obscure mainframe Nimrod parts we have seen on eBay recently for hundreds of pounds, only going to be suitable if you have a serviceable Nimrod jet??
Dream on people……
Thanks for sharing the photos, I suppose the Carvair isn’t knocking about at Joburg anymore?
Anyone know where the Viscount cockpit ended up? At one time I had all the equipment to fit this out which was taken from a BEA simulator but sadly wasn’t able to acquire the cockpit and have since moved the kit on. I only attended Stock once probably about 10-12 yrs back, remember a PR9 cockpit and a large shed full of instruments and aviation equipment to browse through and buy.
The only place I now know of anything similar is ASI at Kemble but everything passing through them now is all modern stuff, their previous base at Alton was also interesting.
looks like from Pilots notes but which aircraft….
whats this off of do we think?
Pilots notes -Vickers Valetta?

To clean older panels up whereby you want to keep the original paint, I use to give it a light clean with some spirit on a soft cloth to get the dirt off. Then once dry added a light coat of WD40 oil wiped on again with a soft cloth. This use to bring the panels up well with a nice sheen coat.
C.6-60 many thanks for your time and the information.FB
Thanks Swifter, looks like I have both examples on the P3 Orion but always wondered why there was a difference. The Convair explanation sounds interesting, I ‘ll have to hunt a 340 example down. Great exchange of information on this forum thanks to all recently.
One other acquisition some months back on ebay (posted on a previous thread but not this particular one) was this Russian war time yoke, the nearest I can nail it down to is an Ilyushin 4 WWII bomber.

Thanks for the clarification Ian and thanks for the photos Nick.
Nick, I have a couple of questions if I may with reference to your latest comments. I have 2 P3 Orion yokes both with different front heads, I note your comments that there was a later version of yoke designed implying that an earlier type yoke may have been in existence. Could you please explain the differences between both? In addition I would be interested to know the difference between the Convair 240 and 340 yokes. Many thanks in advance FB.
Yes I was very fortunate to win the bid on the JU52 yoke. Its a lovely looking yoke with the wooden trim, I was surprised at just how big it was when I eventually received it, it was similar in size to a truck wheel! Does anyone know the difference in factory markings between a Junkers and CASA manufactured wheel?
Well done Nick, as always great restoration job, nice to see that you have kept things as original as can be….
I like the idea of some aircraft of a prop vintage going to Brunty, although this is not a ground runner it would be nice to hear a 4 engined prop machine one day during one of their open days.
Good to hear that the Shack will be going to Bruntingthorpe. Would the final intention be to have her ground running at the base?
