What’s Ken up to these days? I hear that he is out and about, did his aviation collection remain in tact or did the authorities destroy/dispose of any of it? (Hopefully not)
There were some nice but pricey items, Javelin and Sea Vixen grips at £300 each! and a pair of very nice late Harrier GR3 sticks for a bit more. One forumite walked away happy with a bare Shack yoke and a Gannet grip but is wasn’t me. No Beaufort brake levers unfortunately. Attendance was thinner than Shoreham but hopefully will pick up in April.
Thanks for the update Ian.
Hi all, Did anyone have any luck with acquiring grips or yokes at the Brenzet aerojumble last weekend?
Unfortunately I cannot be there this year, good luck to those attending, it would be nice to read a post event report sometime. I know an Australian seller will be there this year, maybe he will have some more RAAF Beaufort yokes for sale! Enjoy to all.
A similar thing was happening with the Avro Shackletons in order to keep them in the air for so long. Thank goodness for museums otherwise if all retired aircraft were directly smelted there would be nothing left to keep anything flying.
Great list this folks for research purposes, thanks to those who contributed. Having read it I just wondered if any other forum members could add any WWII German, Spanish, Italian, French or Russian part numbers / manufacture stamp details?
It was indeed a good airshow, it also could have been remarkably better as quite a few display aircraft seemed to go tech and not either attend or be able to fly.
Regarding post 702 by Ian on the 23rd June 2014.
Answer; Junkers F13 of which several operated as early transports on the civil Finish register.
Thanks for the information Swifter. Here is an example of a Constellation switch which fits into the mount.
Tony, the Constellation switches are just about non existant, trust me I actively look for them! The next best option is to contact Nick Louis at the APHS which you will already be aware of, they have in the past manufactured replica dummy switches for the Constellation of which I have purchased several.
One word of warning though the Connie and the Neptune P2V7 yoke were very similar, however the stork ends are subtly different in shape and dimensions ( you have to look quite hard to notice this) what this means is that if you have a Neptune yoke (which can often be sold as a Connie) then the connie switch blocks may not fit flush! Don’t want to scare you but something you should be aware of. If you want to pursue this further Forum member Swifter should be able to assist (hopefully) in letting you know what you have if you provide close up photos of the end of both the storks (side profiles and front profiles). I don’t have the info to hand but it is something to do with either having square or rounded edges. I thought it prudent to let you know in case you splash out money (replicas are not cheap especially if they end up not fitting!) Good luck!
Hi All, whilst on the subject of wants I am looking for this type of push button which was found on the end arm of Airspeed Ambassador yokes. Sorry But there appears to be no 5C or 5D ref numbers to the switch. Any leads please let me know, thanks in advance.
I always under the impression that blame was with the residents of the house as they had left the the landing light on???
Welcome to Rip off Britain, gentleman! Apart from the 20% VAT on anything purchased ouside the EU and the handling charge as previously menioned did you realise that you the receiver are also taxed 20% on the senders shipping fee. So if the sender spends $100 sending and item to you then customs will add this to the value of your item and then Tax you on the sum total of the item and the postage (in this example and extra $20 on top of everything else).
My favourite was Pan Am flight 843 on 28 June 1965, The Captain safely landed his Boeing 707 with 3 engines and half a right wing. Basically one of his engines and 25 foot of his wing fell off. Fully laden plane with fuel and 153 passengers on board. Takes some skill to put the bird down safely.
Nice Lockheed Neptune P2V-5 control wheel on ebay but couldn’t be further away . Item 301257985845
