Nice work Eugen, certainly a master craftsman in restoration.
As usual good restoration work visotka1. A unique feature of the Yak-40 yokes is that they appear to carry the aircraft registration number on the centre hub. These were neat little regional Trijets. Not sure if they are still flying in the former Soviet republics?
Any AH numbers inscribed?
Interesting idea, I wish them well with the project. I presume the Viking cockpit section will Hopefully be saved?
I have an update to this in that my assessment was wrong! Swifterr has managed to identify this yoke as a North American AJ-2 Savage. An aircraft I have never heard of before, so well done Nick!!
Flatter99 – This particular yoke puzzled me for a while, but unless corrected by another, I am tending to think it’s a composite mish mash of many things put together. The lower body design looks Russian possibly Antonov shape, The upper handles however are not consistent with this Russian design. The plastic coating has been cut either side of the front hub which denotes some alteration has taken place in the past. The front cap is of generic American design, the tops of the switches above the handles are Lockheed which seem to have been cut into, with the original switch holes blocked. There appear to be trim slide tabs on top of the handles similar to those found on Ilyushin jets. The button on the right side of the arm is a camera button (recon role?) and the button on the left side of the arm is crudely taped on. It’s for sale in Germany but looking at the postwar machines the Luftwaffe flew I couldn’t match it up to anything. Hence why I deduced that it may be just bits and pieces put together? From the estate of a WW2 German pilot.
Well done Martyn, nice rare Soviet control wheel to add to your extensive collection. Good to see.
Found a picture of the windscreen.
Good day at Kenley on Sunday, quite a few stalls and good to meet fellow collectors such as Hawker1966 and others. I came away with a Piper Cub rudder, thought it would be a good display piece for the wall. I don’t think the Master windscreen sold, the seller was the organiser of the aerojumble, look at the Posts above and you will see how to contact him. Let’s hope that 2021 provides better opportunities for aerojumble events.
Boeing switches?
The event is still on as far as I am aware, I believe it is being run separate to the autojumble this year. If you want direct confirmation there should be a telephone number For the organiser on the advert in the back of flypast or aeroplane magazine if you have a copy.
Gentlemen, I believe that flatter99 is refining down his extensive collection of yokes and sticks. May be worth contacting him directly to see what else is available.
Yes, as far as I am aware.
BAE 146 control yoke – Trim switch to the front, radio transmission rear/side.
Thanks for the heads up on this, PM sent
