Il-2 relic grip and column on ebay, cant be many if these about item 310898581582
Finally the elusive B47 comes to light.
Two weeks to run, and I am pleased to advise that the previously waterlogged site is drying out very nicely.
Hope to see some of you on the day – Sat 29 March.
Are there early bird tickets available at the gate or on advance ? If so what are the prices for entry please? Thanks in advance.
I had to miss this one unfortunately. Would be interested to know how people got on. Any good finds anyone?
Thanks for this Nick, your knowledge of yokes from across the pond is very much appreciated!
A newly acquired yoke is a Lockheed Neptune P2V5 yoke, note the obvious difference between this and my other Lockheed Neptune P2V7 yoke in post 509. I’m sure our resident American yoke expert “Swifter” will help explain the reason why Lockheed changed the yoke design.
There is a chap on ebay who makes replica accessories for grips incl brake levers and mountings. See item 111283135660 which is nothing to do with grips but this is the seller I am referring to and who may be worth contacting.
Well as an educated guess I would say helicopter of some sort. It has sime similarities to a Wessex panel which I once had.
As discussed by Bombgone I should imagine that work ethics remained the same. My grandmother helped to build Lancaster bombers during the war. She would often relate a story that when they were test flown out of the airfield the workers would assemble outside the hangers and be made by the foreman to watch the Lancaster fly, being told that if it crashed they would be held responsible. Therefore I should imagine that the workers had some sense of responsibility for a quality build.
Hmmm …. this could turn out to be a bit of a quiz then, there is a number of AH2291 on the brake lever attachment and LD10 around the inspection stamp. A quick question why were some older vintage yokes painted green?
[QUOTE=robdd1;2112634]Another control wheel.

I’m not very good on WW2 yokes, but is this a Whitley? If so it will be interesting to see the final price. I believe it is much rarer than a Lanc wheel but will the rarity price over come the emotional value that certain war time aircraft hold.

I have also heard the same thing some months back of F4 possibly destined for a MOD contractor. However I cannot add anything more than this purely because I don’t know anything further, but will try and find out more from the source.
Second that, Canberra it is!
