The Belfast yoke is not too disimilar, i suppose both aircraft needed huge robust yokes for the beast of the size that they were.
This was my Beverly yoke but now sold on. Always reminded me of driving a motorcycle along route 66. Not that I have ever attempted that at least with an aircraft yoke!
Yes ditto the above, there is so little information on the web that this thread becomes a good resource. I’m sure it was intended as a “show and tell” sort of thread. It’s always good to see other peoples collections and gain snipets of knowledge and information as we go along. All things to do with yokes really!
Canberra yoke any idea which type?
Forget what is dangerous and what isn’t, the fact is that if it is radioactive it will set off scanning sensors with Royal mail. These have been introduced for obvious reasons due to the current climate of events ie terrorism. I know of a friend who had a parcel containing old aircraft instruments stopped enroute. You will then be asked to collect them which ever depot in the country has detected the items. Looking at the Royal mail literature they make a point of mentioning that radium aircraft instruments are prohibited to send. . The writing may eventually be on the wall for sellers of old instruments particularly when using Royal mail. I’m not so sure about the policy of courier company’s though, they may be more lenient .
Well done to Old Sarum for saving what they could, something is better than nothing. Hopefully this will fall in line of being opened up to the public similar to all the other exhibits. A good addition to the collection and nice attraction for any forth coming future aerojumble event.
Thanks Jason for the clarification.
Thanks for the link, Switch looks a bit pricey, They seem to stock mainly WW2 items.
Thanks for the information Gin Ye Daur and swifter, good to know it can be blanked off if the switch is not readily available.
Enclosed is a picture of a left arm for a Canberra yoke. I have a question regarding this if any one is able to help
1) what does the missing switch look like on the left arm and would it be operationally correct if this were ever blanked ( in case I cannot acquire one)
Thanks in advance

Good to see that you have a surviving example! Thankyou for the link.
If true regarding the scrapping then Surely there could have been some useful parts for the restoration of the Air France Comet at the Colney Mosquito Museum?
Thanks for highlighting this, never knew about this type of aircraft before. On first glance it looks like two Constellations fused together. Always liked the designs from the post war French Aviation industry, sad that no examples exist.
I’ve had the same problem in the past when looking for an article on a particular Pan Am Boeing 707
Flight incident which appeared with pictures in Life magazine. However the solution is easy (hopefully). The picture on the internet should tell you which issue of Life magazine it appeared in and the publication date. From there on go onto ebay.com which covers the American market (not ebay.uk) search on Life magazine and purchase that particular issue. You will then have your own magazine containing the picture. If that particular issue is not listed try the search again periodically and it will hopefully eventually appear for sale.
