The Wellington cross section from memory was £50, a decent chunk at a very rough guess 70cm x 40cm. The seller may be a forum member? I really don’t know but I regularly see his stall at aerojumbles including Shoreham so guess that you may come across him or the section at Shoreham in the next couple of weeks if you are able to attend.
Just come back after a 200 mile round trip, enjoyable day, a good variety of stalls selling everything from instruments, grips, aircraft wreckage, models, books, art and prints etc. Nice to meet other forum members and enjoyed walking around the museum. Staff made us feel very welcome and all the cockpit exhibits were open for inspection. Stuff I saw for sale were a Shackleton prop, spinner and complete Shackleton pilots instrument panel, Complete or mostly complete Hunter and Phantom quarter panels, HS748 and Canberra yokes, corsair grips, Westway Viscount model, Fairey swordfish foot pedals and rig, large piece of cross section from a Vickers Wellington, WW2 and post war instruments and lots more! Hopefully someone would have taken photos. In all a very enjoyable day, I hope the weather didn’t deter to may people (I’m sure it did) look forward to next year. Thanks to the organisers of this event.
I have been actively going to the aero jumbles for the last 15 years, I appreciate that this is just a short time compared to other forum members.
Personally speaking for myself I cannot get enough, I seem to recollect it was not long ago perhaps 4-5 years back when they were on the verge of becoming extinct. The revival of aero jumbles has been great and long may it continue. For me it’s not only about seeing the stock (I fully accept that a lot is recycled on the circuit) but also about meeting people, networking, learning from others and spinning a few yarns. There cannot be more than a handful of proper aero jumbles each year. Some events (such as Bruntingthorpe or other open days) advertise their own aerojumbles as side attractions but this usually amounts to 2-3 stalls. Although a welcome addition these are not really proper aerojumbles in the sence of a mass gathering of sellers. I welcome Old Sarum to the addition as I do with Shoreham, Popham and Newark. Thank you to all the organisers!
brake lever position and also there is a little fig of 8 plate
Thankyou for this, would it be possible to elaborate further on the little fig 8 plate and where it is?
In addition I take it that Mosquito brake levers only point towards the right?
Thanks again
Thankyou very much!
What’s the full address and post code for this airfield please? (sat nav)
Can anyone tell me the difference between an Airspeed Oxford yoke and a de Havilland Mosquito yoke? They appear identical but I seem to remember someone saying that the brake levers are positioned differently?
Also does this similarity also apply to both aircraft yoke columns? Thanks
Ok thanks, free pitch sounds good!
Excellent set and well done, love the windows on the Sabreliner reminds me of the Sud aviation Caravelle passenger windows.
Interesting to know that there is an aero jumble st this airfield, do you have any other details such as dates? Thanks.
Aerojumble! Aerobilia at Old Sarum Airfield
Or
Shoreham AerojumbleWhich is best?
Only one way to find out…..
FIGHHHT !!!!
One on the Saturday the other on the Sunday, what a mega aerojumble weekend that would be! I seem to remember some years back there was an aerojumble at Shoreham and Popham on alternate days over a weekend. Talking about aerojumbles and Popham their website indicates that they are having one on the 6th May 2013. Anyhow I’m looking forward to Old Sarum for the moment sounds like it should be a good one!
Okay thanks, look forward to it, long drive for me so hope there is a Bacon butty stall!
Hi, any updates as to how things are progressing?
I intend going and there are a couple of things I would like to know please, I have never been to the airfield before and this may help others too.
What time do the gates open and what is the admission cost?
Can I buy an early bird ticket at the gate, how much is this and what time am I able to come in from?
Is there also a museum at the airfield to look around?
Many Thanks in advance
Thanks Dave, spotted that one too (the only one!) Just wondered if there were any more pictures out there.
FB, are you going to expand a little more gen on your newly acquired 10 yoke then???
GYD
Enclosed is a picture of the yoke ZD230 ex BOAC G-ASGA which I believe was the prototype Super VC-10.
