Here are some pictures of my Gloster Meteor instrument panels. These include: an F3, early rear T7, later rear T7 and front T7 or F8. Click on the pictures to enlarge.
Does anyone have details of who is restoring the Viking at Brooklands? Thanks
Enclosed are pictures of a TT18 Canberra instrument panel.
Lee and Albert, Many Thanks for this chaps!
Thanks for the last Dave, do you know the date and what ship she was attached to?
The main Pilot’s instrument panel looks like a De Havilland Dove.
Thanks Jag rigger, I was interested to see if it ever served in the Falklands war, thanks again for the info.
Okay Thanks folk for the information, I also forgot the Varsity had a Nose wheel!. If any one has picks of the instrument panel for a Viking it would be handy to see.
Thankyou to you both.
Not Vampire, caliberation is to low!
This is a very common British instrument, after the war all ASI’s became knots as opposed to MPH. Max speed shown on this instrument is 490mph which therefore negates any gliders. I have a number of pilots notes for the above aircraft I mentioned in the last post and all were fitted with this ASI.
Ron,
Basically as you know its an airpseed indicator, standard fit to a number of aircraft and not made for any specific type. If I new the serial numbers on the face I may be in a better position to tell you the year of manufacture. On the face of it it looks post war, types of aircraft I would expect this to be fitted too, due to the speed caliberation are psot war transport aircraft. The following are examples of where you would find this type of ASI, Blackburn Beverly, Vickers Varisty, Armstrong Whitworth Argosy, Percival Pembroke, Sea Prince etc. Hope this helps in some way.
Cliffair,
The panel you have bidded on in ebay is definately not a T22 model, its certainly Canberra probably somewhere between a T17 or T18 model. Just thought I would let you know before you start buying up parts. T22 served with FRADU (Naval) and some of the the instrumentation is slightly different to those Canberra’s operated by the Royal Air Force. I am sure as eggs that its not a T22, I have listed a photograph of a T22 panel from my collection on a previous thread on this forum, to locate the picture search under “Canberra TT22”. Good Luck.
I saw it about 4 weeks ago by the airport fire station.
As Bruce stated, its great to meet people with a similar interest and of a similar ilk, hoever I do feel this great venue is getting smaller and smaller as each year goes by, this particular one seemed to have less stalls than on other previous occasions. Light hartedly I always judge the sucess of Shoreham by the amount of Portaloo’s they have outside. When I first started going I seem to remember a long row of Portaloo’s, and as each year goes by like the stalls the portaloo’s get less and less, this year only being two! Anyhow spent lots of money, best find was a Hunter starting panel but didn’t come cheap! Looking forward to another revisit later this year.
